Blizzard’s Reign of the Warlock adds Diablo II’s first new playable class in 25 years, along with new end-game content and quality-of-life changes. Blizzard lists the Steam Infernal Edition as including both Diablo II: Resurrected and the DLC; Xbox Game Pass access includes the base game, but not the Warlock expansion.
What does Reign of the Warlock add?
Blizzard describes Reign of the Warlock as a major update for Diablo II: Resurrected. Its centerpiece is the Warlock, which Blizzard calls the first new playable class in Diablo II in 25 years. The class has three skill trees:
- Demonic binding: bind demons to fight for you.
- Eldritch weapons: manipulate weapons with hexes.
- Chaos: wield hellfire and void abilities.
Warlocks can also wield a two-handed weapon alongside an off-hand item. The update adds new Terror Zones and the Colossal Ancients encounter, plus the Chronicle, updated stash tabs, and customizable loot filters, according to Blizzard’s announcement and Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight.
How to get the Warlock DLC on Steam
Blizzard lists two purchase routes: the Reign of the Warlock DLC for people who already own Diablo II: Resurrected, and the Infernal Edition for new players. Blizzard says the Steam Infernal Edition includes the base game and Reign of the Warlock. It also lists Diablo IV cosmetics, World of Warcraft housing decor, two stash tabs, and two character slots as included extras. Check the Steam listing for the current price and availability in your region; the Blizzard announcement does not establish either.

Is Reign of the Warlock included with Xbox Game Pass?
No. Blizzard says Xbox Game Pass members can play the base game, but the Warlock DLC is not included. Players seeking the update are directed to purchase the Infernal Edition. The announcement does not establish the current Game Pass catalog status, so check Xbox’s listing for present availability. See Blizzard’s access and edition details for its stated distinction between the subscription access and paid content.

Blizzard’s 2021 launch guide says Diablo II: Resurrected is digital-only and has no physical version. The guide is from the game’s launch period, so it supports that specific physical-edition point—not current platform or system requirements. Blizzard’s current announcement likewise describes the Steam route as a digital Infernal Edition.
