Nintendo advertises cross-progression and cross-play; its Australian listing says an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required to enable cross-play. Those are separate features, and Nintendo’s listing does not say that Switch Online is required for progress to sync.
What comes with the Switch 2 edition?
The Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection includes the base game, Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred, according to Nintendo’s US announcement and the regional Nintendo product listings. [US announcement] [Australia listing] [UK listing]

Nintendo’s US announcement listed a regular price of $69.99, a dated US storefront figure rather than a global or necessarily current price. Check your local eShop for the price and edition details available in your region.
Does Diablo IV on Switch 2 work offline?
No offline campaign option is established by Nintendo’s listings. Nintendo UK says a “Persistent internet connection [is] required to play,” and Nintendo Australia states that an internet connection and Battle.net account are required. Treat the game as online-only in practice, including when playing solo.
#1 Best Overall
- The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
- Dock that supports 4K when connected to a compatible TV*
- GameChat** lets you voice chat, share your game screen, and connect via video chat as you play
Nintendo’s regional wording differs slightly, so check the product page for your territory. The official listings do not provide instructions for creating or linking a Battle.net account; use Blizzard Support for current account guidance rather than assuming a particular setup sequence.
Which subscription is needed for online play?
Nintendo Australia’s listing says an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required to enable cross-play. Nintendo UK’s listing says paid membership is required for online play modes. Because the notices are region-specific, consult your local product page for the condition that applies to your account and territory.

Nintendo Australia also lists Save Data Cloud and says a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use that Nintendo service. Save Data Cloud is not the same thing as Diablo IV cross-progression: the former is Nintendo’s cloud-save feature, while the latter is the game’s advertised continuity of progress across supported platforms.
What is the difference between cross-progression and cross-play?
Cross-progression: continuing progress across platforms
Nintendo advertises “full cross-progression” for the Switch 2 edition. That indicates progress continuity across supported platforms, but Nintendo’s product listing does not itemize exactly which account data, purchases, currencies or other entitlements carry over. It also does not give current account-linking instructions. Check Blizzard’s current account support for implementation details, and do not assume every purchase or currency transfers.

Cross-play: multiplayer across platforms
Cross-play means playing multiplayer with people on other platforms. Nintendo advertises the feature and, in its Australian listing, ties its use to an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription. That subscription notice should not be treated as proof that it is required for cross-progression.

Nintendo Australia’s listing specifies one to two players locally and one to four online. It also says each multiplayer player needs one compatible controller; additional controllers may be sold separately. These are Australia listing specifications, so check the local eShop page for regional product details.
Release date and download size vary by region
Nintendo’s UK listing gives a September 15, 2026 release date and a 69.4 GB download size. Nintendo Australia lists September 16, 2026 and 71.4 GB. The listings do not explain the differences. Confirm the current release and storage information on your region’s eShop before downloading.
