No: the reported 70.4% figure comes from a reader poll asking who would make Leon’s best marriage partner, not whether he is canonically married to Sherry. Capcom has not identified Leon’s spouse. The poll records a preference; it does not establish a story fact.
What the reported 70% actually measures
A March 6, 2026 report by 3DMGame gave a snapshot of an IGN reader poll in which Sherry led a question about Leon’s ideal marriage partner. It reported 70.4% of 31,844 participants choosing her. That is a reported result from a reader poll, not a representative survey of Resident Evil players and not a measure of how many people believe Leon and Sherry are already married. The poll’s original wording, methodology, audience composition, and final result have not been verified. 3DMGame’s poll report.

Those are different questions: “Who should Leon marry?” asks for a preference; “Who is Leon married to?” asks what the story has established. A poll answer to the first cannot settle the second.
Has Capcom confirmed Leon is married to Sherry?
No. In a March 18, 2026 report, GameSpot quoted Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi responding to the unanswered question of Leon’s spouse: “The answer will become clear some day, but not just yet.” Nakanishi did not name Sherry or anyone else as Leon’s partner. - For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
Nakanishi described the final scene’s emotional point as Leon having a “place to go home to,” adding that he may never voice the answer himself. That language suggests a private life and a place of comfort after the conflict; it does not identify the person waiting there or confirm a marriage.
What the ring and final scene do—and do not—show
Coverage has pointed to a ring shown in unlockable art and a gesture in the final scene as clues that Leon may have a commitment. Those details can invite interpretation, but neither identifies a spouse. A ring alone does not establish who gave it, what it signifies, or whether it represents marriage. Does Sherry calling Leon “anata” prove they are married?
No. AUTOMATON WEST’s March 12, 2026 report says Sherry uses あなた (“anata”) once in the relevant Japanese dialogue. The word can be used by wives addressing husbands, but it commonly means “you”; the reporting says Japanese speakers did not read this particular instance as proof that Sherry is Leon’s wife. A single pronoun in context is not canonical confirmation. AUTOMATON WEST’s explanation of the “anata” theory.

Resident Evil Requiem’s story and Nakanishi’s cited comments leave Leon’s spouse unnamed. Sherry is a popular choice in a reported poll about whom he should marry, and fans have discussed visual and linguistic clues, but those points do not make the relationship canon. Capcom’s official announcement identifies Requiem as the ninth mainline survival horror installment; the announcement does not resolve Leon’s marital status. Capcom’s June 9, 2025 announcement.
