No. A UK cinema listing briefly sparked a rumor that Wario would appear in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, but the listing was never verified as official plot information. Post-release reporting says the rumor was false.
What did the Everyman listing say?
GameSpot reported on February 23, 2026, that a synopsis on UK cinema chain Everyman’s website described Mario facing Wario and Bowser Jr. as an “evil alliance.” The reported text read: “After defeating Bowser and saving Brooklyn, Mario faces Wario and Bowser Jr.’s evil alliance. Now, alongside his friends and Yoshi, he must stop their plans for world domination.” GameSpot’s report treated the claim conditionally, noting that it depended on the synopsis being accurate.
That wording was attributed to a cinema-chain listing—not to Nintendo, Universal, or Illumination. The Independent later reported that the Everyman listing had been deleted and that its accuracy was unconfirmed. Wario had not appeared in the film’s promotional materials at the time of that report. The Independent’s coverage therefore supports treating the text as an alleged listing blurb, not confirmed film copy.
Was Wario actually in the movie?
No. In a May 6, 2026, post-release follow-up, Nintendo Life said the pre-release claim that Wario would appear as a secondary antagonist “turned out to be entirely false.” Nintendo Life’s follow-up distinguishes that false rumor from a separate comment by Shigeru Miyamoto about Wario possibly appearing in a future Mario film.

What the rumor does—and doesn’t—establish
- It establishes: a synopsis attributed to Everyman’s cinema listing was reported to name Wario and Bowser Jr. as allies.
- It does not establish: that the wording came from the filmmakers or accurately described the movie.
- The later clarification: post-release reporting says Wario’s rumored appearance in this film was false. A possible role in a future film is not confirmation about this one.
