Yes—but the character who travels to the future is AI Turo, not the original human Professor Turo. In Pokémon Violet’s ending, the artificial copy enters the time machine and departs for the distant future. The human scientist, who was Arven’s father, had already suffered fatal injuries before the main story.
The Indigo Disk adds a second, easily confused encounter: a real Professor Turo appears at the Crystal Pool before finishing his own time machine. That scene involves displacement through space and time, but it does not establish that the original story’s Turo survived and later made the same trip.

The answer depends on which Professor Turo you mean
“Professor Turo” can refer to three closely related versions of the character in Pokémon Violet and its expansion. Treating them as one person produces the most common explanation error. The base-game ending concerns an artificial intelligence modeled on Turo, while the Crystal Pool scene in The Indigo Disk shows a living human Turo from an earlier or otherwise displaced point in the timeline.
| Character | What the game establishes | Relevant scene |
|---|---|---|
| Original Professor Turo | Human scientist, Arven’s father; his body received fatal injuries before the main story. | He is absent from the present-day adventure. The AI explains that “The original professor no longer exists.” |
| AI Turo | Mechanical copy built from the professor’s knowledge and memories. | After the protection protocol is defeated, he enters the time machine and travels to the distant future. |
| Crystal Pool Turo | Real human Turo who has not yet completed his time machine. | He appears through a space-time event, trades books with the player, and returns through the mist. His exact origin is left uncertain. |
The distinction matters because the word “went” suggests a single, surviving scientist. The story instead gives you a deceased original, a machine-based successor who leaves the present, and a separate living Turo encountered through the DLC’s unusual temporal phenomenon.

What happens to AI Turo in Pokémon Violet’s ending
The base game establishes the future trip during the Area Zero storyline. The time machine has been pulling Pokémon associated with the distant future into the present. Those arrivals are not just a curiosity: the machine’s continuing operation creates an ecological threat, because more future Pokémon can cross over and alter the region’s balance.
- The player reaches the time machine. The machine is the mechanism bringing future-associated Pokémon into the present, and stopping it becomes the immediate objective.
- AI Turo assists with the shutdown attempt. Although he is the machine’s administrator and a copy of the professor, he recognizes the danger created by its continued operation and works with the player.
- A protection protocol takes control. The AI is forced into a confrontation because a security measure prevents the machine from simply being switched off while its controlling conditions remain in place.
- The player defeats the protocol. Winning this battle removes the immediate defensive obstacle, but it does not provide a way to leave AI Turo inside the system and safely shut everything down.
- AI Turo identifies the remaining problem. He determines that the time machine cannot be deactivated while he remains present. His continued existence in the machine’s operating environment is the final condition preventing a shutdown.
- He chooses to leave through the machine. AI Turo says goodbye and enters the time machine, traveling toward the distant future that the original professor had hoped to see.
That sequence is why the direct answer is yes for AI Turo. His departure is shown as a deliberate choice at the end of the base-game crisis, not as an inferred destination based only on his name or on the fact that the machine handles future Pokémon.
Why the original human Turo is not the one who leaves
The original professor’s fate is stated by the AI rather than shown as a playable flashback. When explaining the difference between himself and the scientist who created him, AI Turo says, “The original professor no longer exists.” The surrounding dialogue clarifies that the professor’s physical body sustained injuries severe enough to leave it unable to sustain life.

That wording rules out a simple reading in which the human professor built the machine, stepped into it, and has been living in the future ever since. The human Turo died before the events that bring the player to Area Zero. AI Turo carries the professor’s memories and knowledge, but the game treats him as a distinct artificial entity rather than as the same body restored or transported.
The distinction also explains the emotional logic of the finale. AI Turo can speak with the professor’s voice, remember his work, and understand his goal, yet he is still making a new decision. His choice to enter the machine is an act by the copy, undertaken after the original scientist’s death, not a delayed continuation of the human’s own journey.
The Crystal Pool scene in The Indigo Disk
The expansion complicates the timeline without replacing the base-game answer. At the Crystal Pool, the player can encounter a real Professor Turo who has not completed the time machine. This is not the same AI that departs at the end of Pokémon Violet.

A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
The meeting begins as a space-time event. Turo appears through the pool’s mist, interacts with the player, and exchanges books: he gives the player his childhood Violet Book and receives Briar’s book in return. He then returns through the mist. The scene presents a living scientist at a point in his life before the machine is finished, which is why it cannot be treated as a straightforward sequel to AI Turo’s departure.

The game does not provide a definitive map showing whether he was pulled from the past of the player’s timeline, from a parallel timeline, or from some other point in the series’ space-time structure. His uncertainty is part of the scene’s dialogue, not a puzzle the game conclusively solves.
Consequently, the Crystal Pool appearance should be described narrowly: it demonstrates that a real, pre-completion Turo can be displaced into the player’s world, and that the pool can return him. It does not prove that the human professor from the main story survived his fatal injuries, nor does it identify him as the person who travels to the future in the ending.
How the two time-travel events fit together
There are two different mechanisms and two different travelers.
- The ending’s trip is machine-based. AI Turo deliberately uses the completed time machine after the player defeats its protection protocol. His destination is described as the distant future.
- The Crystal Pool meeting is displacement-based. A living human Turo arrives through a space-time anomaly before finishing his machine, trades books, and disappears back into the mist.
- Their identities do not merge. One is an artificial copy with the professor’s memories; the other is a real scientist encountered at an uncertain point in time or across timelines.
- The DLC leaves the larger rules open. The pool scene broadens the story’s possibilities, but it does not settle every question about alternate timelines or establish a single, linear route connecting both appearances.
This is why statements such as “Turo went to the future and then appeared at the Crystal Pool” overstate what the game shows. They combine separate characters and events into a chronology the dialogue never confirms.

No. The base-game ending gives the essential answer: AI Turo leaves through the time machine for the distant future, while the original human professor had died from fatal injuries. The Crystal Pool encounter is an additional story scene that introduces a separate, ambiguous version of Turo.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is the paid expansion that contains The Indigo Disk. Nintendo lists it as compatible only with Pokémon Violet for Nintendo Switch. If you are following the plot in release order, finish the base game first and then visit the Crystal Pool in the expansion; that order keeps the identity distinction clear and lets the DLC’s uncertainty function as an extension rather than a contradiction.
Common misconceptions, corrected
“The professor in the ending is the human Turo.”
He is AI Turo, a mechanical copy based on the original’s memories and knowledge. The original’s body received fatal injuries, and the AI explicitly says the original professor no longer exists.
“The Crystal Pool proves the original professor survived.”
It shows a real Turo who has not completed the time machine, but his precise temporal or timeline origin is unresolved. The scene does not identify him as the same individual who died before the main story.
Recommended Free Tools
“AI Turo is just the professor with a robotic body.”
The copy resembles the professor in memory and expertise, but the narrative treats AI Turo as a separate being. His final decision to leave is his own response to the machine’s shutdown condition.
“The future Pokémon prove that Turo himself came from the future.”
The machine is drawing future-associated Pokémon into the present; that does not establish the direction or identity of every person connected to it. AI Turo’s future destination is stated at the ending, while the Crystal Pool Turo’s origin remains speculative.
“The DLC changes the base-game ending.”
It adds another Turo and another kind of temporal displacement. It does not undo the base-game facts about the original professor’s death or AI Turo’s departure.
What to remember
Use the name “AI Turo” when discussing the character who enters the time machine. Use “the original Professor Turo” for Arven’s human father, whose fatal injuries occurred before the main adventure. Use “Crystal Pool Turo” for the living, pre-completion version encountered in The Indigo Disk. With those labels in place, the story’s answer is straightforward: the artificial Turo goes to the distant future; the original human Turo does not, and the DLC’s alternate encounter deliberately leaves its timeline unresolved.
