Yes—according to an Insider Gaming report published February 19, 2025, Avowed reached the top position on Steam’s global Top Sellers chart. That was a reported chart snapshot, not proof of how many copies the game sold or whether it remained at number one.
When did Avowed top Steam’s global chart?
Insider Gaming reported on February 19, 2025 that Avowed was Steam’s number-one-selling game globally at that moment. The report said the game had appeared on Steam’s Top Sellers list four days before its full release, then became America’s number-one-selling Steam game before reaching the reported global top position. Insider Gaming’s February 19 report attributed the country-level rankings to an X post by Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft’s VP of Games Marketing. It named the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden and Finland, among other markets.
The claim is specifically about a position on Steam’s Global Top Sellers chart at a particular time. Steam presents Top Sellers and Global Top Sellers as separate storefront destinations, but its live storefront does not provide an archived view confirming Avowed’s February 2025 position.
What does the ranking tell us about sales?
A chart rank shows relative placement on that chart at the time it was observed. The report does not give a verified number of copies sold or a revenue total, so the ranking cannot establish how many units Avowed sold, whether it sustained strong sales, or whether it was profitable.

Insider Gaming separately reported a launch-day peak of 17,171 concurrent Steam players. That is a player-count figure—not a sales figure—and it covers Steam activity rather than everyone playing the game. Avowed is a fantasy action RPG set in Eora’s Living Lands and was also available through Game Pass, so Steam rankings represent only one part of its distribution and audience.
