For calendar 2025 in the United States, Battlefield 6 finished ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in Circana’s tracked premium-game dollar-sales chart: Battlefield 6 ranked No. 1 and Black Ops 7 No. 5. That answers the headline’s 2025 prediction—but only for that chart, not for global franchise sales or total copies sold. As of October 8, 2026, a comparable 2026 verdict is not established.
What the 2025 U.S. ranking actually measured
The chart reproduced by Video Games Chronicle was titled “2025 Top 20 Best-Selling Premium Games – U.S. (Dollar Sales, Physical and Digital from digital data sharing publishers, excludes add-on content),” attributed to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella. It placed Battlefield 6 first and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 fifth. VGC’s report of Circana’s 2025 chart

So the defensible conclusion is that Battlefield 6 beat Black Ops 7 on this reported U.S. premium-game dollar-sales measure. The chart does not establish a worldwide win over the Call of Duty franchise, a unit-sales lead, or the total number of copies sold by either title. Circana dollar and unit totals for this head-to-head were not stated in the cited report.
Why the comparison is not a simple count of copies
Battlefield 6 launched about six weeks before Black Ops 7. Black Ops 7 also launched on Xbox Game Pass, while Battlefield 6 did not. Those are relevant differences in timing and access: a paid-copy sales chart does not necessarily capture subscription access in the same way as a traditional purchase. The available chart and reporting do not quantify how much either factor affected the ranking, so they should be treated as context rather than an explanation for the result. VGC’s report

Battlefield 6’s launch milestone is a different statistic
Electronic Arts announced on October 24, 2025 that Battlefield 6 sold over 7 million copies in its first three days. EA also reported 172 million online matches and 15 million hours watched on streaming services during that three-day launch weekend. Those are EA-reported launch figures; they are not Circana’s full-year U.S. chart totals and do not provide a matching Black Ops 7 unit count. EA’s launch announcement
EA said the game launched October 10, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, including Steam, the EA app, and the Epic Games Store. Its announcement listed Standard and Phantom editions and quoted U.S. launch prices of $69.99 and $99.99, respectively; EA noted offers could vary or change. What can be said about 2026 so far
The 2025 result should not be carried forward as a 2026 outcome. EA’s filing for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 names Battlefield 6 among the drivers of full-game net revenue, but does not disclose title-specific unit sales or compare it with Call of Duty. Circana’s displayed 2026 year-to-date top ten does not list Battlefield 6. A title’s absence from a top-ten display does not establish zero sales or reveal its exact rank.
