No official inventory figure confirmed that most GameStop stores would have 100 Nintendo Switch 2 consoles at launch. An April 2025 report attributed an estimate of about 100 units to unnamed GameStop sources; it was a claim, not verified company data. The Switch 2 launched on June 5, 2025, so the allocation story is now historical.
Where did the 100-console claim come from?
On April 14, 2025, Nintendeal posted that, according to some GameStop sources, most stores expected approximately 100 Switch 2 consoles for launch. Gameranx reported the claim and explicitly noted, “This isn’t an official report from Nintendo or GameStop.” Its coverage also cautioned that some stores might receive fewer units. The sources behind the estimate were not named in the available reporting. No independently verified GameStop allocation figure is established there, so “about 100” should be understood as an attributed estimate—not a confirmed count for most stores.
What did the claim say about games and accessories?
The same post described launch games and accessories as “extremely limited,” but it provided no counts for either category. That description was part of the same unconfirmed claim, not a separate inventory announcement. Insider Gaming, April 15, 2025

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does the claim tell you whether a GameStop has a console now?
No. A launch-era estimate about “most stores” cannot establish stock at an individual location, either at launch or today. GameStop’s product page identifies the console and its release date; its presence does not guarantee live inventory at a particular store. Check the retailer’s current local availability before traveling or making plans.
