The documented Jolteon and Flareon news is about adding those existing Pokémon to Pokémon UNITE as playable characters—not unveiling new evolutions.
What Pokémon’s anniversary announcements actually said
Pokémon’s 30th anniversary fell on February 27, 2026, marking 30 years since the Japanese release of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green on February 27, 1996. The Pokémon Official Site’s January 9 announcement said the anniversary campaign was beginning and highlighted a 30th-anniversary logo and a Pikachu video.
On February 27, the site announced an anniversary feature page, monthly themes, and a commemorative video on Pokémon’s official YouTube channel. Its feature-page announcement did not report new Eeveelution designs.
What the Jolteon and Flareon news means
A separate announcement may help explain the confusion. In an August 30, 2026 roundup, The Pokémon Company said Jolteon and Flareon would join Pokémon UNITE as playable Pokémon, with more details about their moves and roles to follow.

The official materials cited here support the anniversary campaign and the Pokémon UNITE roster news, but they do not support the headline claim that Pokémon officially unveiled new Eeveelution designs for the anniversary. The exact origin of that claim is not established by these announcements, so it should not be attributed to a specific post, game, or event without a verifiable source.
