Yes—shortly before Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree launched on June 21, 2024, outlets reported that screenshots and boss-fight footage were circulating online. One Reddit post included a longer clip whose uploader claimed it showed the expansion’s final boss. That claim was not independently authenticated in the reporting: the original source and the footage’s game build remain unverified.
What was reported to have leaked?
Contemporaneous coverage described a wave of spoiler material, including screenshots and videos of major boss fights. Kotaku reported on June 17 that footage had appeared on Reddit four days before the scheduled release; it characterized one longer clip as something the uploader presented as the final-boss fight. Siliconera also reported that screenshots and boss videos were being posted, mainly by a Reddit user.
These reports establish that footage was being shared and that a clip was claimed to depict the final encounter. They do not establish that the clip was genuine final-boss footage, or that it came from a particular release, review, retail, or development build. No reliable count of clips, viewers, or affected players was reported.
When did the footage circulate?
The expansion was announced for worldwide release on June 21, 2024. GamesRadar reported on June 17 that spoilers had circulated over the preceding weekend, while Kotaku dated the Reddit footage to four days before release. These accounts place the reported posts in the days immediately before launch.

FromSoftware’s announcement described the expansion as a new setting featuring the story of Miquella. That official context explains why footage of major encounters could reveal important parts of the experience, but it does not authenticate any circulating clip.
Where did the leak come from?
Reporting points to Reddit posts as a place where some of the material appeared. It does not verify who first obtained or uploaded the files, how they were acquired, or whether the Reddit poster was the original source. The exact software build shown in the alleged final-boss clip is also unknown.
Accordingly, “the final boss leaked” is a fair description of what a clip was claimed to show—not a confirmed account of its provenance or authenticity.
How did FromSoftware respond?
GamesRadar and Siliconera reported that FromSoftware publicly asked fans to consider people who wanted to experience the expansion without spoilers. The coverage connects that spoiler-conscious message with the circulation of the material. The reviewed reports paraphrase the request, so there is no exact quotation here.
If you are avoiding spoilers, be cautious around posts or video thumbnails discussing the expansion’s bosses, and mute relevant terms on the social platforms you use. Even posts that do not show footage may reveal encounter names or story details.

FromSoftware and Bandai Namco announced a worldwide release date of June 21, 2024. FromSoftware’s announcement also framed Shadow of the Erdtree around Miquella and a new setting. Those are official details; they should be kept separate from claims about leaked footage.
For players checking what to buy, FromSoftware’s FAQ describes an all-in-one edition containing the base game and expansion. It says physical copies include the base-game disc and a code for the DLC; platform, edition, and regional listing details can vary. This is distinct from buying the expansion as standalone downloadable content.
