In the Roblox prison escape game Dig to Escape, the Janitor ending requires 200 Toilet Paper, an Illegal Card, and 12 batteries. Buy the card from a Trade NPC, use the Security Room ladder to reach the Janitor Room and Electric Room, then power the electrical box while avoiding the patrolling guard. This is a different game from Biscoto Gang’s similarly named Steam digging game, which has a separate premise and planned October 2026 release (Steam; Destructoid).
What you need for the Janitor ending
- 200 Toilet Paper (TP): the reported price of the Illegal Card.
- An Illegal Card: some guides call it an Illegal Keycard. Use the name shown in your game version.
- 12 batteries: these power the Electric Room’s electrical box.
These figures and steps come from third-party walkthroughs, not an official game guide or patch history, so an update may change them (Destructoid; Gamezebo; Pocket Tactics).
How to get the Illegal Card
Farm 200 Toilet Paper
Collect Toilet Paper in the first three or four layers; this route does not require digging into the deeper areas. Recover energy with food as needed while farming.
Check the Trade NPCs
Look through the Trade NPC inventories for the Illegal Card and buy it for 200 Toilet Paper when it appears. Destructoid reports four Trade NPCs and recommends checking again after the next day’s item refresh if none has the card (Destructoid).

- Carry the ladder to the nearby Janitor Room and place it by the shaft.
- Follow the vent route toward the Electric Room.
The route’s key sequence is Security Room, ladder, Janitor Room, then Electric Room (Destructoid; Gamezebo).
Collect batteries and finish the escape
- Watch for the guard patrolling outside the Electric Room.
- Collect 12 batteries from the hallway and nearby rooms, avoiding the guard.
- Put all 12 batteries in the Electric Room’s electrical box.
- When the twelfth battery opens the main door, walk through it to complete the Janitor ending.
The battery count and door trigger are reported by walkthroughs and may differ if the game has been updated (Destructoid; Gamezebo).

How the Janitor route differs from the Mineshaft route
The Mineshaft is the conventional deep-dig escape route described by the guides. The Janitor route instead centers on buying the Illegal Card, accessing a sequence of rooms, and powering the Electric Room while managing the guard. Choose the Janitor route if you want to follow those access and stealth steps rather than continue the deep mineshaft route (Destructoid; Pocket Tactics).
