Its humor and focus on a town full of residents give the work a warmer feel than a bare equipment simulator—an editorial reading of the game’s setup, rather than a developer’s stated promise.
What do you do in DIG VR?
You operate a digger, take on jobs around Diglington and use machinery and attachments suited to each task. The career starts with a mini-digger and progresses toward larger machines. Jobs include familiar construction work as well as unusual requests from the town’s residents, according to the Steam listing.
The loop is part work sim and part arcade progression: complete jobs, develop your equipment, and see what else the town needs. The resident-focused requests are also what lend the game its character. The publisher describes its humor as charming; the sense of affection for Diglington and its people is an interpretation of that premise, not a quoted claim about the game’s story.
Is DIG VR a realistic excavator simulator?
It aims to evoke operating real digging equipment, but it is better understood as a light VR work sim than as a strict training simulator. The official description offers both authentic and simplified controller schemes, and presents the campaign as accessible to newcomers as well as players seeking a more serious experience. That choice of control style makes the game approachable without making its job-based, arcade-oriented structure disappear.

Wired Productions also promotes terrain that can be dug, moved and dumped, calling it “the first ever dynamic dig-able terrain in VR.” That industry-first wording is the publisher’s claim, not an independently established comparison. The feature supports the hands-on digging fantasy, but the available descriptions do not establish that the game is a professional equipment-training tool.
What modes and equipment are included?
Alongside the Career Mode campaign, the Steam listing names mini-games, a sandbox mode and Lost Treasure, a standalone mode described as receiving new items regularly. That gives players alternatives to working through career jobs, including a sandbox option for more open-ended play.

What headsets can play DIG VR?
DIG VR is VR-only. Steam lists support for Meta Quest 2/3 and Valve Index on its PC store page; Wired Productions announced Steam VR and PS VR2 versions. Those references do not spell out every headset variant, connection method or platform-specific requirement, so check the current store page for the edition and setup you plan to use.
For the PC listing, Steam specifies Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD FX 8350 processor, 8 GB RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Vega-64 graphics card, and 5 GB of storage. Those are the displayed requirements for the Steam PC version, not universal requirements for standalone Quest or PS VR2.

Release date and who made it
Steam lists DIG VR as released on April 29, 2025, with Just Add Water as developer and Wired Productions as publisher. Wired’s February 5, 2025 announcement said the game was already available on Meta Quest and outlined planned Steam VR and PS VR2 releases. The announcement’s planned March 20 date was superseded by Steam’s later listed release date.
In that announcement, Wired Productions said the Meta Quest version had received “critical acclaim” for its light-sim gameplay, humor and soundtrack. That is publisher characterization, not an independent review consensus.
