Digimon Story: Time Stranger is a story-driven, turn-based monster-taming RPG developed by Media.Vision Inc. and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Players travel between the human world and the Digital World: Iliad, recruit and train Digimon, and use their abilities in strategic battles. Bandai Namco described the game as featuring more than 450 Digimon in its launch announcement.

The game is an RPG, not a new Digimon anime or a hardware release. Bandai Namco’s initial announcement also specified Japanese and English voice-over, plus English, Neutral Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese localization; check the listing for the platform and region you plan to use for current language options.

The original October 3 date comes from Bandai Namco’s release announcement. The one-day difference on Steam is what the Steam listing displays; the sources do not establish why the dates differ, so neither should be treated as a universal timestamp.

Switch 2 display and performance modes
For Nintendo Switch 2 specifically, Bandai Namco announced two modes: Quality Mode targets up to 4K HDR at 30 FPS docked or Full HD at 30 FPS handheld; Performance Mode targets Full HD at up to 60 FPS both docked and handheld. These are Switch 2 specifications and should not be used to infer performance on PS5, Xbox, PC, or the original Switch. See the Switch launch announcement for the platform-specific details.

Bandai Namco announced three Season Pass DLC packs. Each was described as adding five Digimon and an additional episode; the pass also included a Golden Moai farm item as a bonus. Steam currently lists three additional Digimon-and-episode packs, along with separately listed add-ons. Before purchasing, confirm whether the platform edition you want includes the pass and whether any add-on you want is sold separately. The original structure appears in the Bandai Namco announcement, while the current Steam offer is shown on the Steam listing.
Is more Digimon Story: Time Stranger content planned?
Bandai Namco Europe announced an expansion, A Hero’s Eternal Legacy, scheduled for 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It is set three years after the battle involving the Agents and Olympos XII and is slated to add more than 50 Digimon. That is a published schedule, not a guaranteed release date. How many copies has it sold?
Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. reported more than 1 million units sold after the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC release in its February 5, 2026 Switch announcement. This is a dated milestone, not a current lifetime sales total, and the announcement did not include Switch sales in that figure. See the publisher announcement.
