Digimon Story: Time Stranger is already out. Bandai Namco’s regional announcements place its launch on October 3, 2025, in North America and Europe; its Japanese announcement gives October 2 for console editions and October 3 for Steam. Official sources do not establish a dependable exact unlock hour by territory, so a calendar date should not be mistaken for a confirmed local start time.
When did Digimon Story: Time Stranger come out?
The original launch date was October 3, 2025, in North America for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, according to Bandai Namco’s North American pre-order announcement. Bandai Namco Europe also announced an October 3, 2025 release for its region in its European launch notice.

For Japan, Bandai Namco’s announcement distinguishes the platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions were dated October 2, 2025, while the Steam version was dated October 3. The publisher’s Japanese announcement is the relevant source for that regional distinction. The different dates are not necessarily a contradiction: they refer to different regions and, in Japan’s case, different platforms.
The game is no longer an upcoming release. Bandai Namco’s October 3 launch notice says it was available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. The original publisher-announced platforms were those three; any later platform availability should be checked separately rather than read back into the original launch announcement.

What time did Time Stranger unlock?
No exact local unlock hour is confirmed by the official date and launch materials cited here. A release date tells you the day the game was scheduled to become available, not the clock time a particular store enabled downloads in a given time zone. Bandai Namco’s regional announcements provide dates, not a complete hour-by-hour global schedule.
Steam’s product page lists October 2, 2025, but the surfaced store information does not specify an unlock hour or establish that the listed date applied identically in every territory. The official release-date trailer description also gives date wording that distinguishes October 2 from October 3 for Steam, but it does not provide a reliable local-time conversion.
Consequently, claims assigning a precise time to the launch should not be treated as confirmed without an authoritative store or platform notice for the relevant territory. The official material supports the dates above; it does not settle the exact hour.
Why do some listings say October 2 and others October 3?
The date depends on the announcement’s region and platform context. Bandai Namco’s North American and European materials use October 3, 2025. The Japanese announcement dates console versions for October 2 and Steam for October 3. Steam’s store metadata also displays October 2, but that listing alone does not explain a universal release schedule.

| Source and context | Date stated | What it confirms |
|---|---|---|
| Bandai Namco North America, pre-order announcement (June 4, 2025) | October 3, 2025 | North American launch framing for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam; no exact local unlock hour. |
| Bandai Namco Japan, publisher announcement | October 2 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; October 3 for Steam | Japanese platform-specific dates; not a global unlock schedule. |
| Bandai Namco Europe, launch announcement (October 3, 2025) | October 3, 2025 | European release date; no universal unlock hour. |
| Steam product page | October 2, 2025 | The date shown in Steam store metadata; no clock time or identical all-territory schedule is established. |
| Official release-date trailer description (June 4, 2025) | October 2 for PS5, Xbox, and Steam, with a separate October 3 Steam statement | Promotional date wording, not exact time-zone conversions. |
These sources do not present one harmonized, global date-and-time table. Keep the territory and platform attached to each date instead of converting one date into a claimed local unlock time.

Bandai Namco’s launch and pre-order announcements named PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The publisher also said retail pre-orders were available for all platforms, so physical console editions were part of the announced purchase options. Local edition availability and current inventory can vary; check the retailer and region before buying.
What was said before launch?
In a PlayStation Blog announcement published June 25, 2025, Lead Producer Ryosuke Hara said: “We are pleased to share that Digimon Story Time Stranger, the first completely new installment in the Digimon Story series in nearly a decade, will be released on October 3.” That was a pre-release statement, not a current status update; the game subsequently launched in October 2025.
