Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 returned to PC on GOG on January 29, 2025. Both releases joined GOG’s Preservation Program with compatibility and quality-of-life updates, while GOG also launched Dreamlist, a free voting tool for players to nominate classic games they want to see return. Dreamlist is separate from the Dino Crisis releases: votes express interest, but do not guarantee a rerelease.
What GOG released
GOG announced that the original Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 were available for PC on its store on January 29, 2025. GOG says both are DRM-free and preserve the original content while adding updates for modern and future systems. Those are the company’s stated features; they are not an independent guarantee that every configuration will run without issues. Read GOG’s announcement.
Capcom’s official listing describes the purchase as a GOG code, rather than a physical PC product. Redeeming it requires an internet connection and a valid GOG account, and installation is through the official GOG client. The page is a regional store listing, so its displayed ¥1,000 price should not be treated as a worldwide price or a current price in every region. See Capcom’s GOG listing.
What is GOG Dreamlist?
Dreamlist is a free GOG tool where players vote for classic games they would like to see return. GOG says those votes help communicate community interest to intellectual property owners as it considers potential releases. The company also notes that reviving older games can involve obsolete technology, complicated rights, and business challenges. A popular vote is not a promise that a game will be rereleased. GOG’s press release explains Dreamlist.

How GOG describes the preservation effort
GOG places both games in its Preservation Program, which it describes as an effort to keep selected older titles playable on modern systems. The program’s live FAQ says it is currently Windows-only and warns that Windows updates and graphics drivers can affect compatibility. Preservation is an ongoing effort and commitment, not a guarantee of flawless operation on every system indefinitely. Read the GOG Preservation Program FAQ.
GOG’s January 29, 2025 press release cites the Video Game History Foundation for the figure that “87% of all games made before 2010 are now inaccessible.” That is a statistic reproduced by GOG and attributed there to the Foundation; it should not be read as an independently verified finding in this article. The attribution appears in GOG’s announcement.

Should you get one game or both?
GOG’s announcement confirms that the two games are available individually and as a bundle, but does not establish current prices here. The practical choice is whether you want only the first game or both entries. For the original, the GOG release offers the company’s stated preservation updates, DRM-free delivery, and the listed modes and rendering options; account and internet access are still needed to redeem the GOG code through Capcom’s described purchase flow.
A July 2026 GamesRadar interview offered a measure of the releases’ visibility for GOG: senior business development and partnerships manager Marcin Paczyński said, “Bringing back Resident Evil and Dino Crisis did more for GOG’s visibility than almost anything else in recent years.” That is his assessment, not a measured comparison of sales or audience reach.
