In Directive 8020 Episode 5, the Chemical Cabinet opens with the keypad code 168. You get it by matching the three chemical names on the cabinet’s side panel to the numbered posters in the room, then entering the digits in the panel’s order. No chemistry knowledge is required.
The Chemical Cabinet code
The solution is a three-digit sequence. The cabinet’s side panel lists three chemicals; each appears on a room poster beside a number. Match them in the order shown on the panel:

How the puzzle works
This is a cross-reference puzzle rather than a chemistry test. The cabinet panel gives you the lookup terms, while the posters supply the digits. The order matters: the keypad does not use the order in which you discover the posters or the order in which the chemicals might appear alphabetically.

1. Read the cabinet-side panel
Examine the small panel on the left side of the Chemical Cabinet. It presents three chemical names or formulae. Treat that list as an instruction: those are the three entries you must locate elsewhere in the room.
2. Search the room posters
Inspect the posters around the room until you find the matching chemical labels. Each relevant poster pairs one of the panel’s chemicals with a single digit. You do not need to calculate anything from the names or formulas; simply copy the number associated with each exact match.

3. Record the matches
Write down the digit beside each chemical while keeping the panel’s sequence intact. The spelling difference between “Sulphate” and “Sulfate” refers to the same puzzle entry; do not treat it as a fourth chemical or a separate clue.

4. Enter the sequence
Use the keypad and enter the three digits from left to right according to the panel list. The resulting input is 168.

Why the order is easy to get wrong
The room can encourage you to collect clues in visual order, but the posters are only a set of references. Their physical arrangement does not define the combination. The cabinet panel is the ordering key, so a correct set of three digits entered in a different sequence will not solve the lock.
For example, finding the Ammonia poster first does not make 6 the first digit. Ammonia is the second item in the panel’s list, so its number occupies the second keypad position. Apply that rule to all three entries.
What you receive after opening the cabinet
The walkthroughs describe the cabinet as containing ingredients or a sedative needed to advance the Episode 5 scene. Games.gg includes the chemical cabinet in its Episode 5 Mr. Williams walkthrough, while NoobFeed likewise says the cabinet’s contents are required for progression. The exact narrative consequence depends on where you are in the episode, but the keypad puzzle itself is solved by the fixed three-digit input above.
If the keypad rejects your entry
- Recheck the panel order. Confirm which chemical is listed first, second and third before transferring any digits.
- Verify every poster match. Make sure you are reading the number attached to the correct chemical name, not a nearby poster or unrelated label.
- Check the sulfate spelling. “Dimethyl Sulphate” and “Dimethyl Sulfate” are spelling variants of the same target in the guides.
- Enter all three digits together. The solution is a three-digit keypad sequence, not three separate confirmations.
- Inspect the panel again if necessary. If you have collected clues out of order, return to the cabinet and use its list as the final reference.
Space4Games reports that the code is fixed across playthroughs in its code guide, dated May 17, 2026 (Space4Games). That is guide-reported information rather than a published developer guarantee, but it means you should not need to search for a different combination based on your choices.
Episode and spoiler context
The Chemical Cabinet puzzle appears in Episode 5 of Directive 8020. This solution reveals the lock combination and the immediate purpose of the cabinet, but it does not disclose later choices, character outcomes or the episode’s broader branching path. If you want to preserve the discovery element, stop after reading the code and return to the room to perform the matching yourself.
