For a new player, Disgaea 7 Complete is the most complete officially described way to start Disgaea 7 on Nintendo hardware. The Switch 2 release includes the base game, previously released downloadable content, a new bonus episode, and additional high-end progression and challenge features. It is a separate 2025 edition, not simply the 2023 Nintendo Switch Complete Edition renamed for a new console.
For someone who already owns the 2023 Switch version, the decision is narrower: the official material confirms new content and features, but it does not establish a Switch 2 performance upgrade, an upgrade price, save-transfer behavior, or current retail value. Buy it for the new episode and additions only after checking the live price and deciding whether those extras justify another purchase.

Quick verdict: is Disgaea 7 Complete worth it on Switch 2?
Disgaea 7 Complete is a straightforward recommendation for a first-time buyer who owns a Switch 2 and wants the broadest official package. Nintendo describes it as including the base game and all previously released DLC, while NIS America adds a bonus episode set in Netherworlds from earlier games, the unlockable character Asagi, uncapped stats, free-to-use Infernal Weapons, and the Rakshasa Baal challenge. Those are substantive content additions rather than a cosmetic name change.

That 2023 release is a distinct product, and Nintendo says it is supported on Switch 2 with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch. The official pages do not provide measured frame rates, image-quality comparisons, loading times, stability results, a trade-in path, or a current price comparison. Without those facts, an upgrade case has to rest on the new content and on the price you find, not on an assumed technical improvement.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- New to Disgaea 7: choose the Switch 2 edition if you have the required console and want one package containing the game, prior DLC, and the newly advertised additions.
- Already own the 2023 Complete Edition: treat this as a content-upgrade decision. The bonus episode, Asagi unlock, uncapped stats, Infernal Weapons, and Rakshasa Baal are the confirmed differentiators; performance and value are not established by the cited official pages.
- Still using an original Switch: the product is listed as a Nintendo Switch 2 release. Do not assume the Switch 2 edition is playable on an original Switch; the earlier Switch Complete Edition is the product Nintendo explicitly identifies as compatible with Switch 2.
NIS America calls the release “the definitive version of Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless,” but that is publisher marketing language, not an independent review conclusion.
What exactly is Disgaea 7 Complete?
This is the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless. Nintendo’s US product listing gives October 10, 2025 as the release date and identifies NIS America as publisher. It is a one-player strategy role-playing game with TV, tabletop, and handheld modes.
| Official detail | Switch 2 listing |
|---|---|
| Release date | October 10, 2025 |
| Platform | Nintendo Switch 2 |
| Publisher | NIS America |
| Download size | 7.7 GB |
| Players | One player |
| Modes | TV, tabletop, and handheld |
| Supported languages listed | American English and French |
| ESRB descriptors | Alcohol reference, fantasy violence, language, mild blood, suggestive themes, and in-game purchases |
The 7.7 GB figure is the size stated on Nintendo’s listing; it is not a claim about the capacity of a physical card or the amount of any additional installation. The same listing supplies the language and rating information above. If you are buying for a child, the ESRB descriptors are more useful than the broad role-playing-game label because they specifically flag fantasy violence, language, mild blood, suggestive themes, alcohol reference, and in-game purchases.

Nintendo says the Switch 2 edition contains the base game and all previously released DLC, then adds new content and features. NIS America’s product description names the additions more precisely. The official descriptions establish what is included, but they do not provide a measured playtime, a review-based difficulty rating, or an independent assessment of how enjoyable each addition is.
A new bonus episode in earlier Netherworlds
The publisher describes a new bonus episode that visits Netherworlds from previous Disgaea titles. This is the clearest story-adjacent addition identified for the Switch 2 release. It gives returning fans a reason to look beyond the main campaign, while a new player should understand that it is bonus material rather than a replacement for the base game.
Asagi unlocks after the bonus episode
Asagi becomes available after you complete that new episode, according to NIS America’s store description. The wording establishes the unlock condition; it does not specify the amount of time required, the character’s exact build, or how she compares with other units. Those details should not be inferred from the product page.

Uncapped stats
The Switch 2 edition advertises uncapped stats. In practical terms, the feature removes the ceiling implied by the earlier progression rules and is aimed at players who continue developing units after ordinary endgame goals. The official copy does not state the resulting maximum values, the exact systems affected, or whether every statistic can grow without limit, so treat “uncapped” as the feature label rather than a complete mechanical specification.
Free-to-use Infernal Weapons
NIS America also lists free-to-use Infernal Weapons. That phrase confirms their inclusion and lack of an associated use charge in the publisher’s description, but it does not explain acquisition, customization, balance, or how often they can be deployed. The feature is therefore best read as an added tool for players engaging with the expanded progression systems, not as a promise of a particular power level.
Rakshasa Baal as a major challenge
Rakshasa Baal is named as a major added challenge. The product page does not publish a recommended level, completion requirements, expected attempt count, or independent difficulty analysis. It is reasonable to place this feature in the postgame or high-investment portion of the package because it is presented alongside uncapped stats, but the official material does not map out the precise unlock route.
Previously released DLC is included
Nintendo’s description says the Switch 2 release includes all previously released DLC. That matters to a new buyer because the package is not limited to the original campaign. It also matters when comparing products: the 2023 Switch Complete Edition already bundled the game with DLC categories such as cosmetic sets, special weapons, starter support, and a season pass. The Switch 2 edition’s distinction is the additional episode and features listed above, not merely the existence of DLC.
Is Disgaea 7 Complete different from Disgaea 7 Complete Edition?
Yes. The similar names describe two separate releases on two different hardware generations. Nintendo released Disgaea 7 Complete Edition for the original Nintendo Switch on October 3, 2023. The Switch 2 product is Disgaea 7 Complete, listed for October 10, 2025. Nothing in the official pages describes the newer product as a free patch, an expansion entitlement, or a renamed copy of the 2023 game.
| Comparison point | Original Switch release | Switch 2 release |
|---|---|---|

| Switch 2 compatibility | Nintendo says it is supported on Switch 2 with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch | Native product listing for Switch 2 |
The table does not establish that the older edition lacks every system change in the newer release; it records what the cited product pages identify. It also does not establish a performance gap. Nintendo’s compatibility wording for the 2023 edition is the available official statement: it runs on Switch 2 with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch.

Does Disgaea 7 Complete work on the original Switch?
The official listing identifies Disgaea 7 Complete as a Nintendo Switch 2 release. The material available here does not state that this edition runs on the original Nintendo Switch, so an original-Switch owner should not purchase it on the assumption that the hardware relationship works in reverse.
If you have an original Switch, Nintendo’s separately released Disgaea 7 Complete Edition is the clearly documented choice. Nintendo says that 2023 edition is supported on Switch 2, which gives it a defined cross-generation compatibility statement that the Switch 2 product page does not give for backward use on the older console.
Who should buy the Switch 2 edition?
New players with a Switch 2
This is the simplest buying case. You receive the base game, the prior DLC package, and the newly advertised content without having to identify separate add-ons. The one-player format and three play modes make it suitable for someone choosing between television play and portable sessions, while the 7.7 GB listed download size gives you a concrete storage-planning figure for the digital product listing.

Players who want long-term progression
Uncapped stats, Infernal Weapons, and Rakshasa Baal are targeted at continued character development and high-end challenge. Choose this edition if those systems matter more to you than merely finishing the main game. The official descriptions do not quantify the grind, difficulty, or additional hours, so no responsible buyer should use an advertised completion-time estimate that is not sourced.
Fans of earlier Disgaea settings
The bonus episode’s visits to Netherworlds from prior games and the Asagi unlock are the clearest reasons for a returning series fan to prefer this edition. They are confirmed content hooks, not evidence that the episode’s story or fan service will meet a particular quality standard; that would require play experience or independent critique.
Who should keep the 2023 Complete Edition?
If you already own Disgaea 7 Complete Edition, the official information does not support buying again for an assumed resolution, frame-rate, loading, or stability improvement. No cited source supplies a docked-versus-handheld benchmark, an image-quality comparison, or a save-transfer procedure.

Consider the Switch 2 edition when all of the following are true:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- You specifically want the new bonus episode and its Asagi unlock.
- You expect to use uncapped stats, Infernal Weapons, or the Rakshasa Baal challenge.
- You have a Switch 2 and are comfortable treating the purchase as a separate edition rather than an identified upgrade entitlement.
- The current price you verify is acceptable for that additional content.
If those conditions do not apply, the 2023 edition remains the version Nintendo explicitly says is supported on Switch 2. Because current prices and stock were not established in the available product information, compare the two live listings yourself before deciding.
Is Disgaea 7 Complete a cartridge or a Game-Key Card?
NIS America identifies the physical Switch 2 product as a Nintendo Switch 2 Game-Key Card. Use that exact description when searching for the product: “Disgaea 7 Complete Nintendo Switch 2 Game-Key Card.” It should not be described as a conventional game cartridge based on the information available here.
The publisher’s page confirms the format but does not explain every installation or download requirement. It does not establish how much data must be downloaded, whether the card contains the complete game, or what happens if the card is used without an internet connection. Check the package details and Nintendo’s current support information at the time of purchase rather than assuming that a Game-Key Card behaves like an older Switch cartridge.
NIS America also lists an Ewwdo collector’s edition containing the game, a collector’s box, a Lucky Slumber Cat figurine, and a Nethertime Support Force folding fan. Availability can change, so treat that as a separately listed physical option, not as a guarantee that every retailer still has stock.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
The listed download size is 7.7 GB. Keep that figure tied to Nintendo’s product listing: it is a published size for the digital listing, not a prediction of future patches or of the storage space a Game-Key Card may require.
The ESRB descriptors are alcohol reference, fantasy violence, language, mild blood, suggestive themes, and in-game purchases. These descriptors do not by themselves indicate how frequently each element appears, so consult the complete rating information if you need detail for a particular player.
What the official information does not tell you
A buyer-focused review should separate confirmed product facts from questions that remain unanswered. The available Nintendo and NIS America pages do not establish:
Recommended Free Tools
- Docked or handheld frame rate.
- Resolution, image-quality behavior, or visual upgrades over the original Switch edition.
- Loading times, crash frequency, save reliability, or general stability.
- How the new episode, weapons, or Rakshasa Baal challenge feel in play.
- Measured difficulty, additional playtime, or the size of the postgame.
- Current retail price, discounts, stock status, or the value of an upgrade for existing owners.
- Save-transfer rules between the 2023 Switch edition and the Switch 2 edition.
- The exact download behavior of the Game-Key Card.
Those are not minor omissions if you are deciding whether to double-dip. They are simply areas where a responsible answer requires hands-on testing, a live retailer check, or a clearly sourced independent report. Do not treat the absence of a published benchmark as proof that the two editions perform identically, and do not treat the Switch 2 label as proof of a technical upgrade.
A practical buying checklist
- Confirm the console. The product under review is listed for Nintendo Switch 2. If you only own an original Switch, look at the separately released 2023 Complete Edition instead.
- Check the product name. “Disgaea 7 Complete” is the 2025 Switch 2 release; “Disgaea 7 Complete Edition” is the 2023 original-Switch release.
- Decide whether the additions matter. The confirmed Switch 2 differentiators are the bonus episode, Asagi unlock, uncapped stats, free-to-use Infernal Weapons, and Rakshasa Baal challenge.
- Verify the format. The physical Switch 2 product is identified as a Game-Key Card. Read the current packaging or retailer information for installation requirements.
- Check live price and stock. Neither was established by the official product facts summarized here. Compare the complete product listing, not a similarly named DLC bundle or the older Switch edition.
- Plan storage if buying digitally. Nintendo lists 7.7 GB for the download; leave room for any updates whose size is not specified in that listing.
Final buying advice
Buy Disgaea 7 Complete on Switch 2 when you are starting fresh on Nintendo hardware or when the newly listed episode and endgame systems are the reason you want to revisit Disgaea 7. It is the only edition in the cited material explicitly positioned as a Switch 2 product with those additions and with all previously released DLC included.
Keep the 2023 Complete Edition if you already own it and are looking primarily for better technical performance, because no official source here measures such an improvement. The older game is documented as supported on Switch 2, while the newer purchase is justified by its additional content. Verify the current price, physical format details, and any save or download requirements before checkout.
