Cook meals at any cooking station to discover recipes and add them to your Meals collection. This guide explains how recipe discovery works and points to current recipe references for the full ingredient lists. Recipe data checked October 8, 2026; because updates and optional content can change the list, use your in-game cookbook to confirm which recipes you have discovered.
How to cook meals and unlock recipes
- Go to a cooking station. Open its cooking screen; ingredients stored outside your backpack can also be used.
- Choose ingredients and cook. You do not have to learn a recipe first. If the ingredients make a valid meal, cooking it discovers the recipe.
- Check your cookbook. Cooking records the meal in the cookbook and Meals collection. Receiving a meal as a reward does not by itself add its collection entry; cook that dish to record it.
Recipes can call for required ingredients, a flexible ingredient from a category (such as any fish or any vegetable), or no ingredient in a slot. Follow the category requirement when substituting: different valid choices can change the meal’s displayed energy and Star Coin value.
Where to find the full recipe list
The Dreamlight Valley Wiki cooking reference is a browsable community table covering recipes, ingredients, star ratings, meal values, and content sets. It groups meals into appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Use those categories, or search by dish name or ingredient, to locate a recipe; check the content label to see whether it belongs to the base game or additional content.
For another category-oriented reference, PCGamesN’s recipe guide was updated January 23, 2026. It describes more than 200 base-game recipes and notes that downloadable content adds more. Treat that figure as a dated editorial estimate, not an official or current total. No official exhaustive count across the base game and all add-ons is established here.

How to use flexible ingredients and meal values
Recipe tables typically show a dish’s course, star rating, ingredients, energy restoration, sale price, and content set. Mandatory ingredients must be used; a flexible “any” slot accepts an ingredient from its stated category. An unneeded ingredient is not part of the recipe. Adding extra ingredients can affect displayed energy or sale value, but that does not mean the added ingredients improve your return: compare the meal’s sale price with what those ingredients would sell for separately.
- For collection completion: make each dish and verify it appears in the cookbook, including meals received as rewards.
- For a quest: match the requested dish and its required ingredients; a similar meal is not a substitute.
- For energy: compare the meal’s restored energy and your current needs. The community cooking reference gives a 5,000-energy cap and describes a Well Fed bonus when cooked meals raise energy above the initial blue bar.
- For Star Coins: compare ingredient costs or sale values with the finished meal’s value, especially when a recipe permits substitutions.
A higher star rating alone does not establish the best choice: ingredient availability, flexible slots, and whether you need progress, energy, or coins all matter.

Base-game and add-on recipes
Recipe inventories can change as the game receives updates or optional content. An independent fan guide lists 12 meals for the Honeyglow Woods Adventure Pack: two 2-star, two 3-star, four 4-star, and four 5-star dishes. The guide labels the pack optional and paid; check the game and its current content availability before relying on those entries. See the Honeyglow Woods Adventure Pack recipe reference for its list. It is a fan-made guide, not an official Disney or Gameloft source.
Because there is no verified exhaustive official total for every current content set, the practical check is your own in-game cookbook: it reflects meals you have actually cooked, while external tables help identify missing dishes and their ingredients.
