Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed remakes the 2010 Wii game with enhanced visuals and three named movement additions: dash, ground pound, and sprint. It also brings the adventure to newer consoles and PC. The biggest platform-specific update is the Nintendo Switch 2 edition, which THQ Nordic says adds higher-resolution visuals, an improved framerate, Joy-Con 2 mouse-style controls, and the Costume Pack DLC. The publisher has not released a complete change log, so those confirmed differences should not be mistaken for a full accounting of every level, story, camera, or control change.

What is Rebrushed?

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a remake of the 2010 Epic Mickey, developed by Purple Lamp in collaboration with Disney Games and published by THQ Nordic. The publisher says original director Warren Spector assisted with the remake’s development. Its central idea remains the same: Mickey uses paint and thinner to restore or reshape Wasteland, a place inhabited by forgotten Disney characters. THQ Nordic’s launch announcement describes the premise and the confirmed additions.

What changed in the remake?

Enhanced visuals

THQ Nordic describes Rebrushed as having enhanced visuals and graphics compared with the original. That is a publisher claim, not a published technical comparison: the announcement does not specify resolution targets, detailed graphical settings, or a measured comparison with the Wii release.

Three added movement abilities

The publisher explicitly identifies three new moves: dash, ground pound, and sprint. It says they add ways to navigate Wasteland and fight enemies. The announcement does not provide a move-by-move breakdown of how these abilities change particular encounters or stages.

Modern platform availability

The original was released in 2010 for Wii. Rebrushed launched on September 24, 2024 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, taking the remake beyond the original’s Wii platform. THQ Nordic’s 2024 announcement lists the launch platforms.

What is specific to the Switch 2 edition?

THQ Nordic announced that Rebrushed became available for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 6, 2026. The publisher lists four edition features: higher-resolution visuals, an improved framerate, mouse-style controls using the Joy-Con 2 controllers, and the Costume Pack DLC included. It does not give numerical resolution or framerate targets, so those improvements cannot be translated into a specific pixel count or frame rate from the announcement. These details describe the Switch 2 edition; they should not be assumed to apply identically to other platforms. See THQ Nordic’s Switch 2 announcement.

What has not been established?

The official announcements confirm the visual upgrade, three movement additions, release platforms, and the listed Switch 2 features, but they do not offer a systematic comparison of the remake and the Wii original. They do not establish every change to the story, stages, level design, camera, or controls. Treat broader claims about those areas as unverified unless supported by a direct comparison of the games.

Which version should returning players consider?

  • You want the original platform experience: the 2010 game is the Wii release.
  • You want the remake on a modern platform: Rebrushed is available on Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with the three named movement additions and enhanced visuals.
  • You are choosing the Switch 2 edition: it is the version for which THQ Nordic specifically lists improved resolution and framerate, Joy-Con 2 mouse-style controls, and the Costume Pack DLC.

The Switch 2 announcement identifies the Costume Pack as included with that edition; it does not establish that the pack is included with every other version.
