Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →dlaa2view.dll is missing or cannot be loaded when a Lexmark WIA imaging component is incomplete, damaged, quarantined, or still referenced after removal. Before changing anything, record:
- Which application displays the error: a Lexmark utility, Windows scan window, printer software, or another program
- Whether it appears during login, scanning, printing, device detection, or application startup
- The exact wording, such as “missing,” “not found,” “failed to load,” or “specified module could not be found”
- Whether Windows is 10 or 11 and whether the affected application is 32-bit or 64-bit
- The Lexmark printer or scanner model, including any device previously connected to the computer
Do not download a loose copy of dlaa2view.dll. The safest repair is to restore the complete Lexmark driver package that installed it.
What dlaa2view.dll does
DLAA2view.dll is reported as WIA UI DLL and is associated with Lexmark International. WIA, or Windows Image Acquisition, is the Windows driver model used by scanners and other imaging devices. A Lexmark scanning utility can use this component to display or manage the device through Windows’ imaging interface.
This is not established as a general Windows runtime such as Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET. It is best treated as part of the Lexmark software or driver package installed for a particular printer or scanner.

Public file records are incomplete. One indexed record describes a 32-bit version 1.0.0.0 file measuring about 200,704 bytes, but that record is not a current Lexmark manifest and should not be assumed to describe every release. An indexed Windows 8 DriverStore path is also useful only as a clue, not as proof of the correct location on Windows 10 or Windows 11.
Fix 1: Reinstall the correct Lexmark package
This is the most likely fix if the error appears while scanning, opening a Lexmark utility, detecting the device, or after changing Lexmark software.
- Disconnect the Lexmark printer or scanner, if it is connected by USB.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps and then Installed apps.
- Search for
Lexmark. - Uninstall the Lexmark printer software, scan utility, or driver package associated with the device. Do not remove unrelated software unless you know it belongs to the same installation.
- Restart Windows.
- Open Lexmark’s Drivers & Downloads page.
- Select the exact printer or scanner model.
- Select Windows 10 or Windows 11 and the appropriate architecture when the page offers that choice.
- Download the complete model-specific driver and software package, not a standalone DLL.
- Right-click the installer and choose Run as administrator.
- Follow the installer’s connection instructions, then restart Windows again.
Microsoft also recommends obtaining printer drivers from the hardware manufacturer rather than substituting generic files. Its printer-driver guidance explains the same approach.
Test the repair by opening the Lexmark scanning application or Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners, selecting the device, and starting a scan.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
If the installer does not detect the device, shut down the printer or scanner, restart Windows, reconnect it to a different USB port if applicable, and run the installer again. If the model is no longer supported, remove the obsolete Lexmark software instead of trying to reconstruct its DLL manually.
When updating drivers manually means identifying the right model, architecture, and package among many old downloads, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers; its free scan identifies issues, while driver installation through the full version is optional. For this Lexmark-specific file, the manufacturer’s model-specific package remains the definitive source.
Fix 2: Check Windows Update and Device Manager
A Windows upgrade or driver migration can leave an old WIA reference while replacing or removing the files it expects.

Check for updates
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Choose Check for updates.
- Install available updates and restart.
- Return to Windows Update and check again after restarting.
Rebuild the device entry
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Imaging devices, Cameras, and Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Look for the Lexmark device or an entry with a yellow warning icon.
- Right-click the affected entry and select Uninstall device.
- If Windows offers to remove the driver, select that option only when you are deliberately removing the broken Lexmark package.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the package downloaded from Lexmark.
A device error code, missing category, or repeated yellow warning icon points to a driver installation problem rather than a missing Windows runtime.
Windows does not provide a standard optional feature that restores dlaa2view.dll. Do not enable random entries under Windows Features as a substitute for installing the Lexmark package.
Fix 3: Determine whether the error is really the file or a dependency
The message “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean the named DLL itself is absent. Windows may have found dlaa2view.dll but failed to load a dependency required by it.
Use the error dialog to identify the application shown in the title bar. Then check Windows diagnostics:
- Press Windows key, type
Reliability Monitor, and open View reliability history. - Select the red failure marker for the date and time of the error.
- Open the application failure details and record the failing executable and module.
- If needed, press Windows key, type
Event Viewer, and open it. - Select Windows Logs → Application.
- Look for an error at the same time and note the application name, faulting module, and exception details.

C:WindowsSystem32C:WindowsSysWOW64C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepository
A file in SysWOW64 is normally a 32-bit system component, despite the confusing directory name. A 32-bit application can require 32-bit DLLs even when Windows itself is 64-bit. Do not replace a 32-bit component with a 64-bit copy, or assume that copying a file between these folders will make it compatible.

If the file exists but the application still fails, reinstall the complete package. The problem may be a missing dependency, incorrect registration, incompatible architecture, damaged permissions, or a driver package that does not match the device.
Fix 4: Repair corrupted Windows components
Use this step when the error began after system corruption, an interrupted update, disk damage, or multiple Windows components began failing.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Retry the Lexmark installer or scanning application.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. DISM repairs the Windows component source that SFC uses to replace damaged protected files; neither command is a substitute for reinstalling a third-party Lexmark driver.
If manually repeating repair commands is difficult to track, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for system issues; its free scan shows what it finds, while repairs through the full version are optional. Reinstalling the Lexmark package remains the definitive fix when the missing file belongs to that package.
If DISM reports that it cannot find source files, install pending Windows updates, restart, and run the commands again. If SFC reports that it could not repair some files, review the result, restart, and continue with the Lexmark package repair rather than copying a replacement DLL.
Fix 5: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software may remove or quarantine a damaged, altered, or incorrectly detected driver file.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Review entries from the time the error began.
- Expand any entry associated with Lexmark or
dlaa2view.dll.
Do not restore the file merely because its name matches the error. Microsoft explains in its Protection History guidance that Defender can detect a restored file again if it remains unsafe.

Prefer reinstalling the signed package from Lexmark. Restore a quarantined file only when its origin, digital signature, and hash have been independently validated. If antivirus repeatedly removes the newly installed file, run a full Microsoft Defender scan and contact Lexmark or your security administrator rather than adding an unknown DLL to an exclusion list.
Fix 6: Remove a stale startup reference
If the error appears immediately after login but you no longer use Lexmark hardware, an obsolete utility or scheduled task may still be trying to load the component.
- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Remove old Lexmark applications you no longer need.
- Open Task Manager with
Ctrl+Shift+Esc. - Select Startup apps.
- Disable an identifiable obsolete Lexmark startup entry.
- Restart Windows.
Do not disable an entry merely because its name is unfamiliar. If the error continues, inspect Task Scheduler for a clearly identified Lexmark task and remove it only after confirming that the associated software and device are no longer used.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why regsvr32 is normally the wrong fix
regsvr32 registers DLLs that expose a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. It does not download a missing file, repair a damaged driver package, or restore a missing dependency.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Running:
regsvr32 dlaa2view.dll
may produce an error such as “DllRegisterServer was not found.” That result does not identify the underlying problem. Use regsvr32 only when the vendor’s installer documentation specifically requires registering that DLL. A normal Lexmark WIA repair should be performed through the complete driver installer.
Why random DLL downloads are unsafe
A loose DLL from a search result may have:
- The wrong architecture
- An incompatible build
- Missing dependencies
- No trustworthy signature
- Malware or tampering
- A different origin from the Lexmark package
Copying it into System32, SysWOW64, or an application directory can also create a second failure while leaving the broken device installation untouched. Do not install Visual C++ Redistributable, DirectX, or .NET solely because dlaa2view.dll is missing. There is no evidence that this file is one of those runtime components. Install those runtimes only if the affected application separately reports that dependency.

If the error remains after reinstalling
Collect these details before contacting Lexmark or Microsoft support:
- Lexmark model
- Windows edition and build
- Exact error text
- Application or executable named in the dialog
- Whether the file exists and its full path
- Device Manager error code
- Whether the failure occurs at login, during scanning, or during installation
- Whether antivirus quarantined anything
- Whether the application is 32-bit or 64-bit
If the problem began immediately after a known update or software installation, use Microsoft’s recovery options, beginning with System Restore when available. More drastic recovery options should follow only after driver removal, package reinstall, and Windows repair have failed.

FAQ
Is dlaa2view.dll a Windows system file?
Available records point to a Lexmark WIA imaging component, not a general Windows runtime. An indexed copy appearing in DriverStore does not prove that Microsoft ships the file as a core Windows component.
Does every Lexmark printer use it?
No. The available evidence does not identify a particular model or prove that every Lexmark printer or scanner includes this filename.
Should I install the Lexmark Universal Print Driver?
Only when Lexmark’s page for your exact model specifies it. A universal print package is not proof that it contains the WIA scanning component required by dlaa2view.dll.
Is the 32-bit file compatible with 64-bit Windows?
A 64-bit Windows installation can run 32-bit applications and use 32-bit driver components. Match the Lexmark package to the device, application, and operating system instead of choosing a DLL by filename alone.
What if the message says a dependency is missing?
Reinstall the complete Lexmark package, inspect Event Viewer or Reliability Monitor, and repair Windows with DISM followed by SFC. The named DLL may exist while another required component does not.
