Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteBefore changing Windows files, answer these three questions:
- Which program fails? Note the application or game named in the error, if any.
- When does it fail? Does the message appear at sign-in, when launching the program, after an update, or when opening a particular file?
- Is the program 32-bit or 64-bit? A 32-bit application can require 32-bit libraries even on 64-bit Windows.
The filename qt5networkmx32qt55.dll appears in messages such as “is missing,” “was not found,” and “the specified module could not be found.” It is associated with a program that installed it, not with Windows itself.

What qt5networkmx32qt55.dll is
The name appears related to Qt Network, the part of the Qt framework used for networking functions such as TCP/IP, HTTP, sockets and TLS. The normal public Qt 5 library name is usually Qt5Network.dll, so the unusual Mx32Qt55 suffix likely identifies a vendor-specific or renamed 32-bit build.
The exact application that distributed qt5networkmx32qt55.dll has not been publicly identified. Public DLL indexes describe metadata associated with The Qt Company and a Qt 5.5-era C++ framework, but those listings are not an official release manifest for a particular application.

That distinction matters. The correct repair is to restore the application’s original deployment, not to substitute a similarly named Qt file.
This is not a Windows system DLL. It should normally sit in the affected application’s installation directory or one of its application-specific subdirectories. Do not copy it into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the affected application
This is the fastest and most likely solution because Qt libraries are commonly installed beside the application that needs them.
If the program has a repair option
- Close the affected application.
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Select Apps, then Installed apps.
- Find the application in the list.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Advanced options, if available.
- Select Repair.
- Launch the program again.
If the program starts, Windows or the application installer restored the missing deployment files. If it still fails, return to the same screen and choose Reset only if you are prepared for the application to remove local settings or cached data.
If there is no repair option
- Open the application’s official launcher, installer or developer-provided download page.
- Sign in if the program requires an account.
- Use its Repair, Verify files, Scan and repair or equivalent command.
- Restart Windows after the operation completes.
- Launch the program from its normal shortcut.
For a game, use the launcher’s file-verification feature instead of downloading a replacement DLL. Verification can restore the original file set and preserve the correct Qt libraries, plugins and supporting files.
Reinstall from the official source
If repair does not help:
- Back up any documents, profiles or save files stored outside the application’s normal cloud-sync system.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Select the affected program and choose Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Download the installer from the application developer or use the official launcher.
- Install it to the original location unless the developer recommends another path.
- Start the program before restoring custom modifications or third-party plugins.
A successful reinstall should place the DLL beside the program that loads it. If the file is immediately removed again, check antivirus history before repeating the installation.
Fix 2: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software may quarantine or remove a DLL after an update, even when the application itself is trusted. A filename alone does not prove that a file is authentic, so restore it only when it clearly belongs to a trusted installation.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Look for an entry involving
qt5networkmx32qt55.dllor the affected application. - Review the detected file path and action.
- If the path is inside the known application directory and the application came from an official source, use the available Restore or Allow action.
- Immediately repair or reinstall the application from its official installer.
- Run a scan of the installer and the installed application.
Do not permanently disable Microsoft Defender or another antivirus product to make the program start. If the same file is repeatedly quarantined, contact the application vendor and provide the detection name and file path.
Fix 3: Confirm the file is in the application directory
A missing-file message can follow a manual move, partial cleanup or incomplete update.
- Right-click the application’s shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Shortcut tab.
- Select Open File Location.
- Look for
qt5networkmx32qt55.dllin the folder containing the application executable and its related Qt files. - If the file is absent, use the application’s repair or verification feature.
- If the file exists elsewhere, do not copy it into a Windows system folder. Restore the application’s original directory structure through its installer.
If the application was moved to another drive, reinstall it to the new location rather than moving individual DLLs. Qt applications can also require companion libraries, plugins, OpenSSL files or compiler runtimes in specific relative locations.
Fix 4: Check whether the 32-bit build is correct
A 64-bit Windows installation supports both 64-bit and 32-bit applications. The operating system’s bitness does not convert a 32-bit program into a 64-bit program.
Public metadata describes this filename as a 32-bit Qt-related library. That means a 32-bit application may need it even on Windows 10 or Windows 11 64-bit.

Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallDo not replace it with:
- A 64-bit DLL
- A standard
Qt5Network.dllfrom another application - A Qt 5.6, Qt 5.7 or Qt 6 library
- A file copied from a different installation
Different Qt builds can have different exports, compiler settings and dependencies. An incorrect replacement can change a “missing” error into an “entry point” or “not designed to run on Windows” error.
If you built the application yourself, rebuild or redeploy it using the matching 32-bit Qt libraries. For a commercial application, install the vendor’s matching application build.
Fix 5: Repair Visual C++ only when the error identifies it
qt5networkmx32qt55.dll is related to the Qt framework, not the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. The Visual C++ runtime does not normally install this exact file.
A runtime repair is appropriate when:
- The application installer lists it as a requirement
- The error names
VCRUNTIME140.dll,MSVCP140.dllor another Microsoft runtime file - The application vendor instructs you to install it
- The application was deployed without its compiler runtime
For a 32-bit application, install or repair the x86 Visual C++ Redistributable, even on 64-bit Windows.
Recommended Free Tools
- Download the supported package from Microsoft’s Visual C++ Redistributable downloads.
- Choose
vc_redist.x86.exefor the 32-bit application. - Run the installer.
- Accept the license terms.
- Choose Repair if offered, or complete the installation.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch the affected application.
Do not install the x64 package alone and assume it supplies 32-bit runtime components. If the application needs both architectures, install the packages required by its official documentation.
Fix 6: Investigate the dependency behind “specified module could not be found”
The message “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean the named DLL is absent. Windows may have found qt5networkmx32qt55.dll but failed to load one of its dependencies.
Possible missing dependencies include:
- Another Qt library
- A Qt platform or image plugin
- An OpenSSL library
- A compiler runtime
- A library with the wrong architecture
- A library blocked by antivirus software
Check the application directory for other missing or recently removed files. Review the application’s launcher log and Windows Event Viewer:

- Press Windows + X.
- Select Event Viewer.
- Open Windows Logs > Application.
- Look for an error at the time of the failed launch.
- Record the failing executable, module name and exception information.
If the named executable is 32-bit, every required native DLL in its load chain must be compatible with that process. Repairing the owning application is safer than trying to identify and copy individual dependencies.
Fix 7: Use DISM and SFC for broader Windows corruption
DISM and System File Checker repair protected Windows components. They generally do not recreate a private Qt DLL supplied by an application, so use them as secondary checks rather than the first fix.
- Open Start and type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the application again.
Microsoft documents this DISM repair process. If SFC reports that it repaired files, test the application. If both commands report no integrity violations and the DLL error remains, focus on the application installation and its dependency chain.
Running the commands repeatedly without recording their results is unlikely to restore this third-party Qt file. If you want help reducing the manual work of checking Windows repair results, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for reported system issues; its free scan shows findings, while repair is handled by the full version. Reinstalling the application remains the definitive fix when that application owns the DLL.
Fix 8: Check Windows Update, but do not expect a driver update to restore the DLL
Install pending Windows updates if the failure began after a system update or broader Windows instability.
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Choose Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the application.
A graphics, chipset or storage driver update is not a normal fix for an application-level Qt dependency. Use Device Manager only if the application also reports a device problem:
- Press Windows + X.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Display adapters.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
Do not change drivers solely because qt5networkmx32qt55.dll is missing. If you regularly need to identify which of many installed drivers is stale, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and show the findings; driver installation is handled by the full version. It is not a substitute for repairing the program that supplied this DLL.
Why regsvr32 usually does not apply
Do not run regsvr32 qt5networkmx32qt55.dll as a general repair.
regsvr32 is intended for DLL or OCX files that expose a COM self-registration entry point. Qt framework libraries are normally loaded by the application and are not registered globally in this way. Registration may produce an error without restoring the application’s missing dependency.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Microsoft’s DLL and OCX registration guidance applies when a particular DLL genuinely requires registration. Nothing about this filename establishes that requirement.
Avoid loose DLL downloads
Random DLL download sites sites can provide:
- Malware or tampered files
- The wrong Qt build
- The wrong architecture
- A different version
- A file with an unverified hash or publisher
- A replacement that hides the real missing dependency
Even a file with the correct name may not be authentic. Do not copy it into System32, SysWOW64, the Windows directory or a global application folder.
Use the affected program’s official installer, launcher or developer support channel instead. If the application is your own Qt build, redeploy its verified dependencies in the original application layout.
If the error still persists
Collect this information before contacting the application vendor:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- The complete error message
- The name and version of the affected application
- The full path to its executable
- Whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit
- Whether the application itself is 32-bit or 64-bit
- The exact installation path
- Whether the failure began after an update, move, cleanup or antivirus action
- Any Event Viewer application error
- Whether repair and a clean reinstall changed the message
- Names of any companion Qt, OpenSSL or Visual C++ files mentioned
If every official reinstall produces the same error, the application may be loading from the wrong directory, missing a plugin or dependent runtime, or using an incompatible build. The exact program that originally distributed qt5networkmx32qt55.dll is not publicly verified, so the owning application and its installer logs are the most reliable sources for the final diagnosis.
FAQ
Is qt5networkmx32qt55.dll part of Windows?
There is no evidence that Windows ships this file. It is best treated as a private dependency of the application that installed it.
Is it the Visual C++ Redistributable?
No. Qt Network and Microsoft’s C++ runtime are separate dependencies. Install or repair the x86 runtime only when the application requires it or names a missing Microsoft runtime.
Why does 64-bit Windows need a 32-bit DLL?
Because 64-bit Windows runs 32-bit applications through its compatibility layer. A 32-bit process needs compatible 32-bit libraries.
Where should the file go?
Normally in the affected application’s deployment directory or an application-specific subdirectory. Do not place it in System32 or SysWOW64.
What if the file exists but Windows says it cannot find it?
The named DLL may be present while one of its dependencies is missing or incompatible. Repair the application, inspect its companion files and review Event Viewer rather than copying another DLL.
Can I register it with regsvr32?
Usually not. Qt Network libraries are normally loaded by the application and do not generally use COM self-registration.
What is the safest fix?
Repair or reinstall the application from its official installer or launcher. That restores the matching DLL, plugins and supporting runtime files together.
