Do Auto-Fishing Farms Work on Minecraft Bedrock?

Fishing works in Minecraft Bedrock, but an “auto-fishing farm” may only collect items after you reel in. Check version, platform, required input, and add-ons before building.

Yes, fishing works in Minecraft Bedrock, but “auto-fishing farm” can mean very different things. A build that gathers items after you reel in a catch is not necessarily an unattended farm that casts, reels, and recasts for you. Java Edition designs may also fail in Bedrock, so check the exact Bedrock version and platform—and whether an add-on or external input tool is involved—before relying on a tutorial.

What does an auto-fishing farm actually automate?

Separate two jobs that tutorials may blur together:

  • Item collection: The build routes or stores items after a catch. You may still have to watch the bobber, reel in, and cast again.
  • Fishing itself: The setup also handles casting and reeling, potentially without ongoing player input. A claim of this kind needs more scrutiny: it may depend on a particular version, platform, add-on, or external input tool.

Ask what the build automates, what input it needs, and what loot it claims to collect. “Auto-fish farm” in a title does not answer those questions.

Why Java tutorials may not work in Bedrock

Minecraft’s fish-farming reference explains that many familiar Java designs fail in Bedrock because relevant tripwire and door behavior differs between the editions. It also notes that some Bedrock AFK designs have relied on bugs, which may be fixed. That makes an old tutorial—or one that only says “Minecraft”—poor evidence that a build still works in your Bedrock world. Minecraft Wiki’s fish-farming reference

Be careful with rules described specifically for Java, too. The Java open-water requirement and its snapshot history should not be presented as Bedrock mechanics without separate Bedrock evidence.

What ordinary Bedrock fishing requires

Ordinary fishing is player-driven: cast your rod, watch for the bobber to sink, then use the rod again promptly to reel in. Minecraft describes the usual wait as five to 30 seconds; that is a normal fishing wait range, not a farm-yield figure. The official guide says: “Once it reaches the bait, and the bobber sinks below the surface, hit use again quickly to reel in your catch.” Minecraft’s Fishing Rod guide

The Bedrock enchantment documentation describes Lure as reducing the wait for a bite and Luck of the Sea as improving the chance of good loot. These enchantments affect fishing; they do not by themselves make a farm autonomous.

How to judge a Bedrock farm tutorial

Before building, look for a tutorial that states all of the following:

  • Version and platform: The exact Bedrock version tested and the device or platform used.
  • Automation level: Whether it only collects items or also casts, reels, and recasts.
  • Required input: Whether it needs continued player input or an external input tool.
  • Content changes: Whether it uses an add-on or behavior pack rather than vanilla blocks and mechanics.
  • Claimed outcome: What items or loot it collects, rather than a vague promise of “AFK fishing.”

Then test it in the same Bedrock environment before investing time or trusting it unattended. A creator’s listing for an “Easiest Auto Fish Farm in Minecraft Bedrock (26.1+)” is a creator claim, not official validation of operation across Bedrock versions and devices. The tutorial listing

What is established—and what is not

Microsoft’s creator documentation explains fishing as a gameplay loot-table category; it does not verify a current automatic farm design. Microsoft Learn: Introduction to Loot and Trade Tables

Add-ons can modify world content and provide custom behavior, but a fishing add-on is not a vanilla redstone farm. Minecraft Help provides instructions for activating add-ons in Bedrock. Check compatibility and disclose the add-on when evaluating a tutorial. Minecraft Help: Activate Add-Ons in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition

The available sources do not establish one universal vanilla Bedrock AFK build, nor do they provide an attributable statistic for current Bedrock AFK-farm yield. Treat performance numbers or claims of broad compatibility as unverified unless they identify the tested version and setup.
