Not all engrams are guaranteed to carry over between seasons in Destiny 2. It depends on the engram’s source and the specific seasonal transition. Bungie has told players to claim certain vendor and ritual vendor rewards before a transition, so check the official notice for the season you are leaving rather than assuming an engram will remain available.
Which Destiny 2 engrams are at risk?
Engrams are tied to different reward systems, so a notice about one category does not establish what happens to every other category. In its July 2025 reminder, Bungie said Episode: Heresy and Rite of the Nine would end on July 15, 2025, and told players to claim expiring rewards, including vendor rewards and ritual vendor engrams. Other items had separate rules. Bungie said certain items connected to vaulted activities and seasonal campaigns would be deprecated from inventories at the start of Year 8, with a separate list identifying the affected items. What to do before a season ends
- Identify the reward’s source. Check whether it is a vendor or ritual vendor engram, a seasonal reward, or a reward from another system.
- Read Bungie’s notice for the transition you are approaching. Check the date, the named reward categories, and any claim deadline; an old season’s deadline does not automatically apply to a later one.
- Claim rewards before the stated deadline. If Bungie says a listed reward expires or should be claimed before reset or season end, do not leave it unclaimed at the vendor.
Unclaimed rewards at a vendor and engrams already claimed into inventory are not necessarily covered by the same rule. The available official notices do not establish one universal current rule for both situations.

Do seasonal changes affect other rewards too?
They can, but changes to another system do not answer the engram question. In July 2025, Bungie described Seasonal Bonus Power as season-limited and said above-cap weapon and armor Power would return to 200 at the next season’s start under the plan then announced. On October 9, 2025, Bungie later announced that Seasonal Power and Unstable Cores would carry over from Season 27 into Season 28. Likewise, Bungie’s December 2025 notes about Portal Bonus Drops describe Portal rewards and fireteam stacking; they do not establish that vendor engrams persist across seasons. How to get a current answer for a specific engram
Look for a Bungie notice covering the exact season transition and reward category you mean. As of October 8, 2026, the official information summarized here does not establish the carryover status of every engram category for the next season. Follow the current notice’s instructions rather than extrapolating from a past deadline or from rules for Power, currency, or Portal rewards.
