No—Xbox 360 Kinect games that require the Xbox 360 Kinect sensor do not work on Xbox One through backward compatibility. Xbox One supports only selected Xbox 360 games, and Microsoft excluded titles that need Xbox 360 accessories such as Kinect. Xbox One Kinect games are a separate library; they can work on Xbox One hardware, with an adapter needed to connect the Xbox One Kinect sensor to an Xbox One S.
Why Xbox 360 Kinect games do not work on Xbox One
Xbox One runs selected Xbox 360 and original Xbox titles through a software-based backward-compatibility feature; it is not a substitute for Xbox 360 hardware. Microsoft stated in its June 16, 2015 Xbox Wire announcement that games requiring Xbox 360 hardware accessories, including Kinect, would not be supported. A Kinect-dependent Xbox 360 game therefore cannot use an Xbox One Kinect sensor to bypass that limitation.

Xbox 360 Kinect and Xbox One Kinect are different cases
Xbox 360 Kinect games
Games made for the Xbox 360 Kinect sensor require the Xbox 360 generation’s hardware. To play them, use a compatible Xbox 360 console and Xbox 360 Kinect sensor. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 sensor setup guide explains connecting the sensor to an Xbox 360 console.
Xbox One Kinect games
A game released for Xbox One that uses Xbox One Kinect is a native Xbox One game, not an Xbox 360 title running through backward compatibility. Xbox Wire’s Xbox One S announcement says the Xbox One Kinect sensor can be connected to Xbox One S using the Xbox Kinect Adapter. That adapter connects the Xbox One sensor; it does not make Xbox 360 Kinect games compatible.

How to check a particular game or choose hardware
- Identify the game’s platform and sensor. Check whether the game is an Xbox 360 Kinect title or an Xbox One Kinect title before buying a console or sensor.
- For an Xbox 360 Kinect game, use Xbox 360 equipment. Confirm that the used console, Xbox 360 Kinect sensor, required cables or power supply, and game are all present and suitable for the specific setup.
- For an Xbox 360 game that does not require Kinect, check the official compatibility list. Xbox One backward compatibility is selective, not automatic. Microsoft’s support page explains how to check eligible titles.
- If playing an eligible game from disc, keep the disc inserted. The console uses it to verify ownership after downloading the compatible version.
- For an Xbox One Kinect game on Xbox One S, use the Xbox One Kinect Adapter. Verify that a used adapter is the Xbox One accessory intended to connect the Xbox One Kinect sensor; it is not an Xbox 360 Kinect adapter.
