Yes, but only specific Razer Hammerhead models are designed to work with Xbox. The Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox and Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed for Xbox connect to the console through their supplied Razer HyperSpeed dongle. Ordinary Bluetooth Hammerheads should not be expected to pair directly with an Xbox just because they work with a phone.
Which Razer Hammerhead models work with Xbox?
Compatibility depends on the exact product name, not simply the Hammerhead family or the word “HyperSpeed.” Razer lists two Xbox-specific models: the Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox and the Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed for Xbox. Both use a HyperSpeed wireless dongle for console connectivity.

Razer maintains separate support pages for the original Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox and the V3 X HyperSpeed for Xbox. The newer model was announced July 8, 2026, and its support page was updated July 16, 2026. The original model’s support page was updated May 11, 2026.
Why Bluetooth alone is not enough
Bluetooth earbuds can play audio from Bluetooth-enabled phones and computers, but that does not establish a supported direct connection to an Xbox console. For these Hammerheads, Razer specifies the HyperSpeed dongle as the Xbox connection; Bluetooth is for compatible non-console devices. Razer describes HyperSpeed as the gaming-oriented low-latency option and Bluetooth as better suited to calls, music, video, and less latency-sensitive use. So, do not buy a generic Bluetooth Hammerhead expecting to pair it directly with an Xbox. If you already own one, an intermediary audio setup may be possible, but it is not the same as documented direct Xbox compatibility and may not provide reliable party-chat microphone support.
How to connect an Xbox-compatible Hammerhead
- Charge the earbuds and their case.
- Connect the HyperSpeed dongle supplied with that exact model to the Xbox.
- For the original Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox, set the dongle’s switch to “XBOX”. Its “USB” mode is intended for other compatible USB devices. The switch requirement is documented by Razer.
- Turn on the earbuds and allow them to connect to the dongle. If they do not pair, follow the pairing instructions for the exact model in its support materials.
- Open the Xbox audio or headset settings and confirm the connected headset is selected for game and chat audio. Dashboard labels can change, so look for the headset output and microphone controls rather than relying on an old menu path.
- Play a game, then test the microphone in an Xbox party before relying on it in multiplayer.
Use the dongle supplied for the exact model. Razer documents these products separately, and the available material does not establish that Xbox and PlayStation dongles—or dongles from other Hammerhead products—are interchangeable.
Game audio, party chat, and microphone
The Xbox-specific Hammerheads are designed for Xbox use and include microphones: Razer describes dual environmental noise-cancelling microphones on the original model and a cardioid microphone specification for the V3 X. That makes voice chat an intended use, but does not guarantee identical results across firmware, console settings, network conditions, or microphone fit.

- Join an Xbox party and speak while checking the party’s microphone indicator.
- Ask another participant to confirm that your voice is audible and clear.
- If game sound works but chat does not, check the selected headset and chat output, microphone mute state, privacy or microphone permissions, and party chat/game balance.
- If the microphone indicator never responds, reconnect the dongle and headset, then test again after checking for model-specific firmware or pairing updates.
Do not infer microphone operation from game audio alone: sound output and microphone input are separate things to verify.

Spatial audio and using a phone at the same time
Windows Sonic on Xbox
Razer lists Windows Sonic support on Xbox for the V3 X HyperSpeed for Xbox. Spatial processing still depends on the Xbox audio configuration and the game’s own audio implementation; the claim does not mean every game produces the same spatial effect. Razer’s July 8, 2026 announcement covers the Xbox and PlayStation V3 X models. Do not assume that software or spatial-audio features available on PC, PlayStation, or a phone transfer unchanged to Xbox.
Xbox and phone audio together
For the original Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox, Razer says audio from the dongle-connected source and Bluetooth source cannot be mixed simultaneously. Dual connectivity or source switching should not be mistaken for hearing both streams at once. Check the V3 X model’s own documentation for its current switching behavior rather than assuming the original model’s details apply to it.

Compatibility by Hammerhead generation
Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox
This earlier Xbox-oriented model is listed for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X, and Xbox One S, plus PC and Mac. Its 2.4 GHz console connection uses a USB-C dongle with separate “XBOX” and “USB” modes; Xbox use requires the “XBOX” setting. It also has Bluetooth 5.2 for compatible devices such as phones and tablets. Razer’s support page provides model-specific compatibility and utilities.
Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed for Xbox
This newer Xbox-branded model is listed for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, as well as multiple other platforms. It uses HyperSpeed wireless and Bluetooth 5.3, with a charging case/dongle system and Razer SmartSwitch for changing wireless modes. Its support page and product page are the references for its listed support.
Hammerhead V3 HyperSpeed and ordinary Bluetooth models
Razer lists the standard Hammerhead V3 HyperSpeed separately from the V3 X HyperSpeed for Xbox. The shared “HyperSpeed” name is not proof of Xbox support. Likewise, Razer’s Hammerhead BT support page describes compatibility with Bluetooth-capable devices, which does not make it an Xbox headset. Check the exact product name and support page before connecting or buying.

Troubleshoot connection and audio problems
Xbox does not detect the earbuds
- Confirm the model name includes “for Xbox”; a PlayStation edition or standard Bluetooth product is not an assured substitute.
- Make sure the model’s own dongle is connected to the console.
- On the original Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox, move the dongle switch to “XBOX,” not “USB.”
- Disconnect and reconnect the dongle, then power-cycle the earbuds and case.
- Try another console USB port.
- Check the exact model’s support page for firmware, pairing utilities, or a pairing procedure, and confirm any updater matches the model and hardware revision.
- Disconnect the earbuds from another active device if that connection is interfering with the intended console link.

Game audio works, but party chat does not
- Confirm the earbuds are connected through the Xbox dongle, not Bluetooth to a nearby phone or PC.
- Check microphone mute, Xbox microphone/privacy settings, selected headset/chat output, and party balance.
- Reconnect the dongle and headset so the console can re-establish the headset connection.
- Test in an Xbox party and verify the microphone indicator reacts when you speak.
One earbud is silent
Razer gives this recovery sequence for the original Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox: place both earbuds in the charging case and wait five seconds; open the case; tap and hold both earbuds for four seconds to enter pairing mode; then tap four times and hold the final tap for two seconds, until a tone is heard in both earbuds. This is a model-specific instruction from Razer’s support page, not a universal reset procedure for all Hammerheads.
Audio is delayed
For gaming, use the HyperSpeed dongle rather than Bluetooth where the model supports it. Wireless interference, low battery, outdated firmware, another active device connection, or added audio processing by a game or television can also contribute to delay. HyperSpeed is a gaming-oriented connection, not a promise of zero latency.

The dongle works on a PC but not Xbox
On the original Xbox model, check that the dongle is switched to “XBOX.” Also confirm it is the dongle for the Xbox Hammerhead rather than a replacement or a dongle from another Razer headset. Razer’s supported-device list for Razer Audio Setup for Xbox and each model’s own support page can help identify supported hardware.
Should you choose Hammerheads or another Xbox headset?
Choose an Xbox-specific Hammerhead if you want a compact wireless option for console play and want earbuds that can also serve phones, PCs, or handhelds. Choose a conventional Xbox headset if you prioritize a boom microphone, larger physical controls, passive isolation, or longer uninterrupted use without depending on a charging case. Fit and microphone pickup can also be less consistent with earbuds than with an over-ear headset.
If considering Razer alternatives, its support list includes Xbox-designated Kaira and BlackShark models. Those are conventional headsets rather than pocketable earbuds; check the exact Xbox model rather than assuming every product in either family is compatible. See Razer’s supported-device list.
Firmware, apps, and support
Firmware or pairing utilities are available through the model-specific Razer support pages, but an update is not established as mandatory for every setup and is not a guaranteed fix for every fault. Use the updater and pairing process for the exact Hammerhead model. Razer lists Razer Audio Setup for Xbox for supported devices, and the V3 X documentation should be checked for its applicable app and setup materials.
