Yes, but the trade usually works the opposite way the question suggests: you give iron ingots to a villager and receive emeralds. Look for an apprentice-level armorer, toolsmith, or weaponsmith; in Java Edition 26.2, the listed exchange is four iron ingots for one emerald.
Which villagers trade iron?
Armorers, toolsmiths, and weaponsmiths can offer an iron-ingot trade. Mojang’s 2019 article confirms that these professions stock iron ingots. The player supplies the ingots; the villager pays emeralds.
The trade is listed at apprentice level. The Java Edition 26.2 reference gives the same rate for all three professions: four iron ingots for one emerald, according to Craftdex’s Java trade lookup. That quantity is version-specific, so check the offer in your game after updates.
Can you count on the trade appearing?
No. Offers depend on edition and profession, and a villager may not have the iron offer available. A Minecraft Wiki trade chart based on Java Edition 1.21.4 says offers may differ in Bedrock Edition; for armorers, it lists a 50% chance in Java and 100% in Bedrock for the apprentice iron offer. Those probabilities apply to the armorer entry, not automatically to toolsmiths or weaponsmiths. See the trade chart and confirm the actual offer in your edition and version.

How to find and use an iron trade
- Find an armorer, toolsmith, or weaponsmith and open the villager’s trade screen to check for the apprentice iron-ingot offer.
- If you need to identify or assign a profession, use its job-site block: armorers work at a blast furnace. The trade chart lists professions and their workstations.
- When the iron trade appears, select it and place the required ingots in the input slot to receive emeralds. If the offer is unavailable or exhausted, another villager or a later restock may be needed.
What happens when the trade runs out?
Villager trades have limited stock. Mojang’s Village & Pillage release notes say villagers can restock up to twice per day if they are able to work at their workstation. The trade reference also notes that Bedrock villagers must be linked to a bed to restock. Trading raises a villager’s level and unlocks additional offers, but leveling does not guarantee that a particular iron offer will appear.
