Yes. Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 paddles can work on Windows PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming when you map them to controller buttons in the Xbox Accessories app, select the profile, and use a compatible device and game. Cloud play is not a guarantee that every device, app, browser, or game will handle every mapping the same way.
How paddle mapping works
The Elite Series 2 has interchangeable rear paddles. In the Xbox Accessories app, you can assign a paddle to a controller button and save the configuration in a profile. The paddle then sends that button input; whether a game responds to it depends on the game’s controller support. Microsoft documents the controller’s mapping and profile features for Windows 10/11 and Xbox consoles on its Elite Series 2 product page and Xbox Design Lab product information.
Set up the paddles on a Windows PC
- Connect the controller to Windows using Bluetooth, the included USB cable, or an Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows, which is sold separately.
- Open the Xbox Accessories app. Assign each paddle to the controller button you want it to send.
- Save the configuration and select the profile you intend to use.
- Launch the game and check that it responds to the assigned controller button.
Microsoft lists those Windows connection options and documents button mapping through Xbox Accessories. The adapter is optional for ordinary controller-button mappings; Bluetooth or USB can be used instead.
Using mapped paddles with Xbox Cloud Gaming
You can use the mapped controller profile for cloud play when the controller setup, device, and game are supported. Xbox’s cloud gaming guidance makes support dependent on the game and, in some cases, on using a supported Bluetooth controller. Check Xbox’s tested controllers guidance for the device and client you plan to use. The page is the place to verify current compatibility; it should not be treated as confirmation that every phone, tablet, smart TV, browser, or app supports the same setup.

Controller-button mapping is different from keyboard mapping
Assigning a paddle to a controller button is not the same as assigning it to a keyboard key. Microsoft’s August 3, 2023 Xbox Wire explanation says PC users need a USB connection or Xbox Wireless Adapter for controller-to-keyboard mapping. Support varies by game: Microsoft notes, “Keyboard input support is game dependent, so you may notice some games will offer full support, partial support, or no support.” See Xbox Wire’s keyboard button mapping announcement.

If a paddle does not work
- Check the profile: In Xbox Accessories, make sure the intended saved profile is selected and the paddle has an assignment.
- Test the assigned controller button locally: Try the controller on the PC or Xbox console and see whether the game responds to that button input.
- Isolate a cloud-specific problem: If the mapping works locally but not in Cloud Gaming, check support for the exact device, client, and game in Xbox’s tested-controller guidance.
- For keyboard assignments: Connect by USB or Xbox Wireless Adapter on PC, then confirm that the game supports keyboard input.
