No. In Stardew Valley, you don’t feed your dog: you water its Pet Bowl with a Watering Can. Petting your dog also raises its friendship.
How to water the Pet Bowl
- Fill your Watering Can if it is empty.
- Use it on the Pet Bowl outside your farmhouse. Sprinklers cannot fill the bowl.
Watering the bowl can add 6 friendship points by the next morning. Petting your dog once per day adds 12 points. These are in-game friendship mechanics, not food or treat requirements. See the Stardew Valley Wiki’s Pet Bowl page and its Animals page.

What if it rains or the bowl is missing?
Rain
Rain automatically fills the bowl. If it rains the next morning, watering the bowl does not provide the usual 6-point friendship increase.
More than one pet
Each pet needs its own bowl. A pet without a Pet Bowl loses 10 friendship points the next morning and cannot leave the farmhouse. Robin can build additional bowls.
