Usually, yes. In Skyrim, you normally get your equipment back when you correctly complete No One Escapes Cidhna Mine, the follow-up to The Forsworn Conspiracy. The gear loss is part of the sequence, but a broken quest transition or quest state can prevent the expected return.
When does Skyrim return your equipment?
After you bring the evidence back to the Shrine of Talos in Markarth, guards confront you. Let them arrest you: that begins No One Escapes Cidhna Mine. You start the follow-up without your regular equipment, and the quest walkthrough says it is returned at the end when the quest is completed correctly. The Forsworn Conspiracy walkthrough describes this sequence and notes that the quest can have bugs.
What should you do when the guards confront you?
- Make a save before returning to the Shrine of Talos, so you can retry if the transition fails.
- When the guards approach, proceed with the arrest dialogue. Do not fight them or back out of the dialogue; Bethesda says either action can sometimes prevent No One Escapes Cidhna Mine from starting.
- Complete the follow-up quest. Its outcome depends on your choices, but the walkthrough describes equipment being returned at the end when the quest completes correctly.
If the follow-up does not start, Bethesda’s recommended recovery is to reload a save from before completing The Forsworn Conspiracy and allow the arrest to proceed. Bethesda Support: No One Escapes Cidhna Mine will not begin.
Do the quest routes affect what happens?
There are different outcomes: you can cooperate with Madanach and escape with the Forsworn, or take the alternate route against him. The walkthrough describes differing faction outcomes and rewards, so do not assume both routes have the same ending. The available guidance supports the normal equipment return after completing the follow-up, not a guarantee for every route or a quest state affected by a bug. No One Escapes Cidhna Mine walkthrough.

What if stolen quest items are still missing?
This is separate from the temporary equipment loss in Cidhna Mine. Bethesda says stolen items, including quest items, can be removed when you are arrested. For a stolen item seized in that way, check evidence boxes at forts; Bethesda also says it may be obtainable later at its original location if it was returned to its rightful owner.
