No. Soul Tyrant is an optional Dream Nail rematch, not a second phase you must fight after Soul Master. To start it, return to Soul Master’s corpse in Soul Sanctum and strike it with the Dream Nail.
How to access the Soul Tyrant fight
- Defeat Soul Master in Soul Sanctum.
- Return to his corpse after the fight.
- Use the Dream Nail on the corpse to enter the dream encounter with Soul Tyrant.

What changes in the rematch?
Soul Tyrant is the dream version of Soul Master and is described as stronger and faster. Defeating him rewards 300 Essence, according to the Soul Tyrant entry. This is separate from Soul Master’s progression reward: Soul Master is associated with obtaining Desolate Dive.
Can you leave it for later?
You do not have to enter the dream encounter immediately after beating Soul Master. The documented trigger is returning to the corpse and using the Dream Nail, so you can choose when to attempt the rematch. The available sources do not establish whether Soul Tyrant is required for any specific ending, achievement, or later unlock, so avoid assuming it is either universally necessary or irrelevant to every completion goal.
