No. In Fatherhood and Other Dreams – II, you can leave the theater before the vaudeville show ends. The mission still completes, and staying through every act is not required for its theater-related gold-medal objective.
What happens if you leave the theater early?
After Arthur returns Mary’s mother’s brooch, Mary may invite him to the theater. If you accept, the mission moves into the show. You can exit whenever you wish; Arthur still says goodbye to Mary, and the mission completes.

The gold-medal objective is to take Mary to the theater. Its guide tip says to accept the invitation, but you do not need to stay for the entire show. The objective is about bringing her there, not watching every performance. iRedDead’s mission guide and a separate walkthrough both describe early departure as compatible with completing the sequence.
How to handle Mary’s invitation
- Choose whether to accept. Mary offers the theater visit after Arthur returns the brooch; you can accept or decline.
- If you accept, go to the theater with her. This fulfills the theater-related gold objective.
- Leave when you are ready. You do not have to wait for the show to finish for the mission to complete.
Which mission does this apply to?
This answer is about Mary’s optional theater visit in Fatherhood and Other Dreams – II, a Chapter 4 mission that follows We Loved Once and True. It does not establish requirements for other theater activities, show-related objectives, or collectibles.
