No. Lunar Client does not support Mojang-account sign-in. To play, sign in with a Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition or has access to it through Xbox Game Pass. The old Mojang-account migration process ended on September 19, 2023, so an unmigrated Mojang account cannot be moved through that process now.
What account does Lunar Client require?
Lunar Client’s sign-in guide says it does not support signing in with a Mojang account. Use the Microsoft sign-in option and choose the Microsoft account with access to Minecraft: Java Edition.
Lunar Client lists two ways that account can qualify:
- Own Java Edition: The Microsoft account used to sign in owns the game.
- Have subscription access: The same account can access Java Edition through Xbox Game Pass. This is access while the subscription remains eligible, not game ownership.
Make sure you select the account that holds the relevant ownership or subscription access; signing in with a different Microsoft account will not provide that entitlement.

Can you use an old Mojang account?
No. Minecraft announced that Mojang-account migration was completed on September 19, 2023, and the former migration process is no longer available. If you remember only your old Mojang login and never migrated it, it will not work as Lunar Client sign-in. Check Minecraft’s migration notice and contact official Minecraft support about your current account options rather than following old migration guides.
Does Lunar Client’s guest option let you play without Java access?
No. Lunar Client’s launcher guide describes a guest option for entering the launcher, but separately says Java Edition ownership or access is required to play. Guest launcher access should not be treated as a way around Microsoft sign-in or the game-access requirement.

What if you own Minecraft for PC already?
Minecraft’s account guide says Java and Bedrock are bundled for PC.
