Sports Interactive says the FM27 In-Game Editor has a brand-new interface and is a full-screen experience throughout. The company has focused on navigation and readability rather than announcing a completely new category of editing power.

Do the wider FM27 database updates make the editor necessary?
No. Sports Interactive says FM27 includes more than 18 million database changes and 1,500 competition updates, plus 19 officially branded partner backgrounds. Those figures describe the wider game update, not the capabilities of the In-Game Editor.
The size of the FM27 database may make customisation appealing to some players, but it does not turn the editor into a required component. You can play the updated game without changing any of those records yourself. Conversely, a large database does not prove that the editor can alter every item within it.
Launch date, early access information and platform checks
Football Manager 27 launches globally on 10 November 2026. Sports Interactive says a Launch Preview version should be available one to two weeks before the street date, with more information on digital pre-purchase and discounts to follow.

Sports Interactive has not stated whether one editor purchase covers multiple platforms. Check that point at checkout, especially if you play on more than one version of FM27.

Sports Interactive states: “The gameplay shown is from a development build of the game, meaning it is subject to change before release.” That warning applies to pre-release feature material, including screenshots and demonstrations of the editor.
As a result, a demonstrated screen should not be treated as a final guarantee that every control, label or workflow will ship unchanged. Wait for the released interface and documentation before making a purchase based on one showcased function.
A practical buying decision
Buy or consider it when all of these are true
- You actively want to alter an existing FM27 save.
- You have identified a customisation, repair or experiment that normal game tools cannot provide.
- You are comfortable with the possibility that an edit changes the intended challenge of the career.
- The final documentation confirms that your target field and save type are supported.
- The announced price is acceptable for how often you expect to use the tool.
Skip it when any of these describes you
- You want an unmodified career with its original uncertainty and restrictions.
- You are still learning the core management systems.

How to use an editor safely once you own it
Sports Interactive has not published FM27’s exact backup and undo behaviour, so the following is a cautious save-management routine rather than a claim about built-in controls.
- Keep an untouched save: save your career before opening the editor and do not overwrite that original copy.
- Create a test copy: apply an unfamiliar change to a duplicate first, particularly when several values may interact.
- Change one category at a time: this makes it easier to identify which edit caused an unexpected result.
- Record the change: note the original value, new value and date in a simple text file so you can reproduce or diagnose the result.
