Yes. Embark has said that both ARC Raiders and THE FINALS use a mix of recordings by human actors and text-to-speech (TTS). That does not mean every line is AI-generated: the studio describes TTS as one tool used for selected lines and contexts. In March 2026, Embark said some ARC Raiders lines had been re-recorded with actors, leaving fewer AI-generated lines than at launch.
How Embark described AI voices in THE FINALS
In a 2023 statement reported by GameSpot, Embark said it used “a combination of recorded voice audio and audio generated via TTS tools in our games, depending on the context.” The studio described contextual callouts as one reason to use TTS: it can make tailored lines practical when implementation speed matters. What Embark has said about ARC Raiders
Embark co-founder and chief creative officer Stefan Strandberg told GamesRadar+ that ARC Raiders also combines “recordings of real actors and TTS.” He described the approach as a production strategy for a small team, rather than a plan to replace all performers. GamesRadar+’s interview with Strandberg gives that account.
In later comments reported by GameSpot, Embark chief executive Patrick Söderlund said actors were paid for booth time and, in selected cases, for permission to license their voices through TTS. He said those licensed lines were used for audio that was less essential to immersion, mostly ping-system audio. Söderlund also said TTS let developers try different lines before choosing what to record. These are Embark’s descriptions of its production and licensing practices, not an independent verification of every performer’s agreement or every line in the game. What changed after ARC Raiders launched?
In March 2026, Söderlund said ARC Raiders had fewer AI-generated voice lines than at launch because some lines had been re-recorded with human actors. He put the preference plainly: “A real professional actor is better than AI; that’s just how it is.” Embark did not provide a count of the lines re-recorded, say that all TTS lines were replaced, or identify every changed line in the reporting.
