Black Myth: Wukong received PS5 Pro support in an update covered on December 26, 2024. That is distinct from Sony’s upgraded PSSR technology, announced in February 2026 and rolled out to supported games from March. The available game-specific sources do not confirm that Wukong adopted the newer PSSR or received a new 2026 graphics patch.
What the PS5 Pro update means for Black Myth: Wukong
Digital Foundry reported on December 26, 2024 that an update had added PS5 Pro support to Black Myth: Wukong. Its coverage also compared the Pro version with the base PS5 experience. That is evidence of a game-specific Pro support update at that time—not confirmation of a later patch or adoption of Sony’s 2026 PSSR revision.

For dated technical context, see Digital Foundry’s December 2024 comparison. It should not be treated as a fresh 2026 benchmark: the current resolution, frame rate, and exact graphics settings are not established by the available sources.
How the 2026 PSSR update differs
Sony describes PSSR as an AI upscaling system that analyzes game images pixel by pixel. In February 2026, Sony announced an upgraded PSSR version for PS5 Pro, saying its algorithm and neural network draw on work from the Project Amethyst partnership with AMD. In March, Sony said the updated reconstruction was designed to improve precision and stability in motion and give developers more flexibility to balance visual fidelity and performance.

- Ray Tracing - Immerse yourself in worlds with a new level of realism as rays of light are individually simulated, creating true-to-life shadows and reflections in supported PS5 games.
- Faster Loading - Fast-travel across the map and get back into the game almost instantly with the PlayStation 5 console’s ultra-high-speed SSD and fast load times.
- Stunning Visuals - Experience the vast world in stunning 4K and HDR at 120 FPS (with a 4K and HDR compatible TV or display)
- Breathtaking Immersion - Discover a deeper gaming experience with support for haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D Audio technology.
- Backwards Compatibility - Play over 4,000 PS4 games on PS5. Enjoy faster and smoother frame rates in some of the PS4 console's greatest games.
Those are Sony’s platform-level descriptions, not measured results for Black Myth: Wukong. Sony also cautioned that the effects can vary by game. Neither announcement establishes that Wukong uses the upgraded version. Read Sony’s February 27, 2026 PSSR announcement and March 16, 2026 rollout post for the named rollout titles and Sony’s general explanation.
PS5 versus PS5 Pro: what can be compared
The useful comparison points are image clarity and detail, image stability during motion, graphics settings, and frame-rate consistency. Digital Foundry’s December 2024 video is a dated source for a comparison, but the evidence available here does not provide current, measured Wukong results on those measures. In particular, Sony’s stated goals for upgraded PSSR should not be read as proof of a specific resolution, frame rate, or visual improvement in this game.

| Was a new 2026 Wukong graphics patch announced? | No such announcement is established by the available sources. |
QSSR is not the same as PSSR
In October 2026, Sony announced QSSR, a separately named AI upscaling technology for the base PS5. Sony described it as a new performance tier with a streamlined neural network and a hand-tuned implementation, and named Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei as its first adopters. That announcement does not say that Black Myth: Wukong uses QSSR. See Sony’s October 1, 2026 QSSR announcement.
Where to check for a later Wukong patch
Game Science’s official Black Myth: Wukong news index is the place to check for subsequent patch notes. It includes a PS5 and PC patch-note entry for version 1.0.20.21756, but the page reviewed did not establish a new 2026 PSSR announcement for the game. A console patch and a platform-wide upscaling release are separate things; a PS5 Pro owner should look for a Wukong-specific patch note before assuming the game adopted Sony’s newer technology.
