No—not simply because you ordered through a quick-commerce app. For an India-market PS5, the key question is whether the seller named on your invoice is an authorized Sony reseller. Sony’s published terms reviewed here do not identify app-based ordering or fast delivery as a reason to void the guarantee, but they do warn that purchases from unauthorized resellers may not qualify.
What determines whether Sony will honor the guarantee?
Check the seller on the tax invoice, not just the app name or the delivery service. An app may facilitate a sale without being the retailer named on the invoice; the seller identity is what you need to verify for your specific order.
PlayStation India advises buying consoles from authorized retailers for warranty coverage. Sony India’s authorized-dealer information says, “Sony warranties only when the products are purchased from authorized reseller,” and warns that products bought from unauthorized resellers may not qualify for the manufacturer’s one-year limited warranty. Sony’s directory lists authorized online stores and the partner names shown for each platform, but it does not establish that every seller or order on every app is authorized.
What the India-market PS5 guarantee requires
Sony’s India-market PS5 guide describes a one-year guarantee from the date of original purchase for defects in materials and workmanship during normal use. To make a claim, the first user must present the product with proof of purchase during the guarantee period. The proof must show the purchase date and retailer name and must be unaltered.

This guidance applies to products Sony put on the market in India under the guide’s terms. Do not assume the same guarantee period or eligibility rules apply to an imported console or a purchase in another country; check the terms for that product and market.
How to check a quick-commerce order
- Before buying: Find out which business will appear as the seller on the tax invoice. Do not treat the app’s brand as proof that the invoice seller is authorized.
- Verify that seller: Compare the exact seller name with Sony India’s current authorized-dealer information, or contact Sony or PlayStation support and ask them to confirm the seller for the PS5 you plan to buy. The directory can change and does not verify every app order.
- Keep the paperwork: Save the original invoice or receipt with the date and retailer name visible. Keep it with the console’s serial and warranty information.
- Check the unit: Confirm that it is intended for the India market and that its serial number and warranty markings are intact.
- If you already bought it: If the seller’s status is unclear, give Sony support the invoice and console details and ask for an order-specific warranty confirmation. Do not rely only on an app-chat assurance.
Other reasons a claim may be rejected
The PS5 guide lists conditions unrelated to the sales channel that can affect a claim. These include damaged, altered, defaced, or removed serial numbers or warranty seals; evidence that someone tried to open the casing; and damage resulting from misuse, accident, unauthorized peripherals, or unauthorized repair. The guarantee also covers defects in materials and workmanship during normal use, not every fault or form of damage.

Do not overread Sony’s general warranty wording
Sony India’s general warranty page discusses service requirements and second-resale purchases through e-commerce or other channels. That second-resale condition should not be treated as a blanket exclusion for every newly purchased, sealed PS5 ordered through an app. For this question, the PS5-specific India-market guarantee is the more directly relevant document; confirm eligibility with Sony if your invoice or product circumstances are unusual.
