In the current D&D Beyond Blood Hunter rules, Crimson Rite adds one Hemocraft die of damage to each qualifying hit, and that die grows as your Blood Hunter level rises: d4, d6, d8, then d10. It increases at levels 5, 11, and 17—not at every level.
How much extra damage does Crimson Rite deal?
While an active Crimson Rite is on a weapon, attacks you make with that weapon deal extra damage equal to your Hemocraft die. The damage type is set by the chosen rite. The current D&D Beyond Blood Hunter rules also make those attacks magical while the rite is active.
The bonus is a rolled die, not a flat amount added to every attack. The class table determines the die size by Blood Hunter level:

Crimson Rite becomes available at level 2 in the current class table. The first die increase is at level 5, followed by increases at levels 11 and 17; the die stays the same between those thresholds.

Can Crimson Rite deal more than one Hemocraft die?
Yes, but only when a separate feature applies. These effects add a die to Rite damage under their stated conditions; they do not change the base progression above.
- Blood Curse of the Marked: Until the end of your turn, hits against the marked creature with a weapon carrying an active Crimson Rite deal an additional Hemocraft die of Rite damage.
- Order of the Ghostslayer — Rite of the Dawn: While Rite of the Dawn is active, hitting an undead creature adds an additional Hemocraft die to the Rite damage.
- Order of the Ghostslayer — Brand of Sundering: From level 11, hitting a creature branded by Brand of Castigation with an active Rite weapon adds an additional Hemocraft die to the Rite damage.
Check the feature’s target, level, and duration before adding the extra die; the additional damage is conditional.

Which Blood Hunter rules version are you using?
This progression follows the current Blood Hunter class text displayed on D&D Beyond on October 8, 2026; the page excerpt does not give a revision date. Older versions may use different wording or progression. For example, an archived 2020 rules file presents a separate “Crimson Rite damage die” column. Use the rules version your campaign has adopted rather than combining older and current text. The archived file is available in TheGiddyLimit’s Blood Hunter rules data.
