What’s included in the Switch 2 edition?
The Switch 2 release is Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, which includes the base game and the Phantom Liberty expansion. It launched on June 5, 2025, as a launch-day title. CD PROJEKT RED announced both a physical 64 GB game card and a digital Nintendo eShop download; optional language packs can affect the final game size. What are the Switch 2 graphics and frame-rate options?
CD PROJEKT RED lists two modes. Its figures are targets, not a guarantee that the game will hold the stated frame rate or resolution in every scene. The publisher says handheld mode uses VRR in Performance mode.

These are CD PROJEKT RED’s published targets in its Performance & Resolution support article. Quality favors the higher frame-rate ceiling in Performance mode; the trade-off is that handheld Performance targets 720p rather than 1080p. TV Performance targets up to 40 FPS at 1080p.

How does the game look and run in practice?
Nintendo Life’s review, published June 6, 2025, described the handheld presentation as impressive and overall performance as pleasing. The reviewer also reported stutters while areas loaded, hitches in Dogtown, and occasional graphical anomalies. Those observations are a reviewer’s account, not a measured performance benchmark. Nintendo Life disclosed that CD Projekt Red provided the review copy.
Night City and Dogtown
The review noted that Dogtown was more prone to hitches and visual anomalies than general play around Night City. If you encounter a rough patch there, it is consistent with the reviewer’s reported experience; it does not establish that every player or scene will behave identically.

What has been pared back?
In its comparison with Xbox Series X, Nintendo Life described Switch 2 crowds as less dense and character shadows as weaker. That is a qualitative comparison from the review, not a controlled, measured comparison of the two versions. It helps explain the visual compromises behind a portable version, but does not mean the Switch 2 presentation is uniformly poor.

CD PROJEKT RED says the Switch 2 edition supports gyro aiming, motion controls, touchscreen commands, and mouse capabilities. These are platform-specific ways to interact with the game, alongside its visual modes.

Motion controls required new development and testing, according to the studio. CD PROJEKT RED Publishing Tech QA Analyst Jakub Smodrzak said: “Cyberpunk 2077 is a near-five-year-old game we know inside out, so adding entirely new movement mechanics for the Nintendo Switch 2 version meant there were no existing test cases to fall back on.” CD PROJEKT RED team member Filip Downar added: “We had to create patterns that matched players’ expectations — for a system that no one had used yet!” These are developer perspectives on designing motion controls, not claims about graphics or frame-rate performance.
