Yes. Cyberpunk 2077 supports cross-progression through cloud saves connected to a CD PROJEKT RED account. Update the game, open Load Game and choose Cross Progression, link the account, then create a save that displays a cloud icon. Sign in with that same account on the other platform and the save will appear there.
How Cyberpunk 2077 cross-progression works
Cross-progression stores your game progress in the cloud rather than leaving it on only one console or computer. The account connection is the identity check: both installations must use the same CD PROJEKT RED account before the destination device can see the uploaded save.

CD PROJEKT RED says the latest save in each category is uploaded automatically. That includes Quick Saves, Auto Saves and Manual Saves. The upload is not a one-time export that you copy with a USB drive; it is a cloud-backed set of saves associated with your account.

An older local save may not appear on another platform until the game has produced a cloud-marked version.

Set up a Cyberpunk 2077 cross-save, step by step
Prepare the original installation
- Install the latest available patch for Cyberpunk 2077 on the platform containing your progress. Cross-progression setup requires the current game update supported by that installation.
- Launch the game and open Load Game from the main menu.
- Select Cross Progression. Follow the on-screen prompt to sign in to, or create, a CD PROJEKT RED account.
- Confirm that the platform account is linked to the intended CD PROJEKT RED account. If you have more than one account, record which email or login you used; the destination must use this exact account.
- Return to the game and create a new save. Use a Manual Save if you want an unmistakable checkpoint, although the system also handles Quick and Auto Saves.
- Open the save list and check for the cloud icon beside the new save. Do not shut down or switch platforms until that indicator appears.
Load the save on the destination platform
- Install the same game content on the second platform and apply its latest supported patch.
- Start Cyberpunk 2077, open Load Game, and choose Cross Progression if the account prompt is shown.
- Sign in with the same CD PROJEKT RED account used when the cloud-marked save was created. A different account will have a different cloud-save list.
- Wait for synchronization, then look in the load list for the uploaded Quick, Auto or Manual Save. Select it and verify that the character, quest state and inventory are the expected ones before overwriting any local saves.
If the destination list is empty, leave the game open briefly after signing in and check the account shown in the Cross Progression panel. Repeating the process with a newly created, cloud-marked save is safer than assuming an older local file was uploaded.
Content compatibility: base game and Phantom Liberty
Cross-progression moves a save, not missing game content. The receiving installation must contain the content that the save references. CD PROJEKT RED’s rule is explicit: “In order to load saves via cross progression, the game needs to have the same game content present.”

This is why a save can be visible in the cloud yet fail at the load step. Visibility proves that the account synchronization worked; it does not override edition or expansion requirements.

Do you have to buy Phantom Liberty twice?
The documented requirement is content parity, not a cross-buy entitlement. A destination installation must include Phantom Liberty to load a save that depends on it. The available support guidance does not establish that an expansion purchase on one platform automatically grants a license on another platform’s store.
In practical terms, check the destination platform’s edition and entitlement before moving an expansion-based save. If that installation lacks Phantom Liberty, use a base-game save or obtain an edition that includes the expansion there. A base-game save is the flexible case: it can load on either the base game or the Ultimate Edition.
Platform limits and current-generation support
PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S
These are the platforms for which Phantom Liberty was developed. A move among PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S still follows the same account, cloud-icon and content-parity rules. The platform transition itself does not remove the expansion requirement.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
After Patch 1.6, CD PROJEKT RED stopped delivering new content updates and improvements for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Those versions continue to work and receive technical support, but they are not equivalent to the current-generation editions for new content.
Phantom Liberty was developed only for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Therefore, a PS4 or Xbox One installation cannot provide the expansion content required by an expansion-based save. Treat the old-generation version as a base-game environment when planning a transfer, and verify the destination edition before attempting to load a save created with newer content.
Nintendo Switch 2
CD PROJEKT RED’s 2025 management report records the release of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on Nintendo Switch 2, including launch sales of Nintendo Switch 2 cartridges. That makes Switch 2 a current console edition relevant to players deciding where to continue a save.

The same cross-progression prerequisites still apply: update the game, connect the Switch 2 installation to the CD PROJEKT RED account used on the original platform, create or identify a cloud-marked save, and confirm that the destination edition contains the content referenced by that save. The report establishes the 2025 Ultimate Edition release and physical cartridge, but it does not specify regional stock, pricing, seller availability or every store’s entitlement policy.

Why a cross-save is missing, and how to fix it
No Cross Progression option or account prompt
- Update the game first. The setup requires the latest patch supported by the installation.
- Open Load Game, not only the ordinary local-save list, and look for Cross Progression.
- Complete the CD PROJEKT RED sign-in flow. A platform profile that is not linked cannot publish or retrieve the cloud list.
The save exists locally but has no cloud icon
- Create a new Manual Save after enabling Cross Progression, then check the save list again.
- Keep the game connected and open long enough for synchronization to finish.
- Use the newly marked save on the destination rather than an earlier file that was created before account linking.
The destination account shows an empty list
- Compare the account identity on both platforms. Signing in with another CD PROJEKT RED account produces a separate cloud-save view.
- Return to the original platform and confirm that at least one recent save displays the cloud icon.
- Sign out and back in only after confirming the correct account; otherwise you may continue checking the wrong cloud library.
The save appears but will not load
- Compare editions and installed expansions. A save containing Phantom Liberty cannot load on a version without that expansion.
- Check whether the destination is PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Those versions stopped receiving new content updates after Patch 1.6 and cannot supply the expansion environment.
- Install the same content on the destination, then retry the cloud save. Account synchronization cannot substitute for missing game data.
What cross-progression does not do
- It does not merge two separate characters or combine inventories from different saves; you choose which uploaded save to load.
- It does not make incompatible editions compatible. Expansion-dependent saves still require the expansion on the receiving installation.
- It does not remove the need for a current, supported game update or the same CD PROJEKT RED account.
- It does not guarantee that a platform receives new content. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One remain supported technically, but new post-Patch-1.6 content was not delivered to them.

“Does it work on Nintendo Switch 2?”
Nintendo Switch 2 received the Ultimate Edition in 2025, including a physical cartridge release. Use the same cloud-save procedure and verify content compatibility.
“Why is my cross-save missing?”
The usual causes are an outdated patch, no newly created cloud-marked save, a different account on the destination, or missing expansion content. Check those in that order.
