What is known about the alleged Denuvo update?
The claim comes from a community discussion, not a confirmation from Denuvo’s parent company, Irdeto, or a game publisher. The post names Star Wars: Galactic Racer, but the material available does not identify what Denuvo supposedly changed, show a technical analysis of the game, or verify that the change works against hypervisor-based bypasses. That leaves two separate claims unresolved: whether the game has a new countermeasure at all, and whether any such measure applies to 60 or more titles. A claim about one game cannot establish a broader deployment or its effectiveness.
What does Denuvo Anti-Piracy do?
Denuvo Anti-Piracy is a publisher- and developer-facing product, not a consumer security tool. Irdeto says its system validates game ownership through the distribution platform, issues a hardware-bound token, and permits gameplay on matching authorized devices. Irdeto’s current product page also advertises 450+ games protected, an average of 180 crack-free days, estimated revenue of $10B+, and 3.4B+ licenses issued. These are vendor-reported figures; the page does not provide a publication year or calculation methodology alongside them. They do not independently confirm a new hypervisor-blocking update.
How does a hypervisor bypass differ from a conventional crack?
Recent reporting distinguishes the approaches by what they target. A hypervisor-based bypass is described as spoofing Denuvo checks through changes at the system level; reporting says using it requires lowering Windows protections. Conventional cracks instead patch Denuvo checks in the game. These descriptions are high-level context, not instructions for disabling protections or bypassing DRM.

The distinction matters when assessing the new claim: evidence that one kind of crack exists, or that Denuvo has promised countermeasures, is not proof that a particular countermeasure has been deployed successfully. TorrentFreak reported in March 2026 that hypervisor-based bypasses had emerged and that Irdeto had promised countermeasures, but that background does not verify the later claim about Star Wars: Galactic Racer.
What do the recent legal and cracking reports establish?
The voices38 lawsuit
TorrentFreak reported on September 16, 2026 that Denuvo sued the anonymous handle voices38 under the U.S. DMCA’s anti-circumvention provisions. The complaint alleged circumvention involving 26 games, including Hogwarts Legacy, Black Myth: Wukong, Resident Evil Requiem, and Doom: The Dark Ages. DenuvOwO reports
On September 28, 2026, Tom’s Hardware reported that DenuvOwO had reportedly disbanded, attributing that status to online reports. It also said other cracking activity continued. That report does not show that hypervisor bypasses have ended or confirm a new Denuvo blocking measure. Tom’s Hardware’s report.
