Official material places the series across multiple worlds, including Pandora and Kairos, but the sources located do not say that Earth exists, identify it as humanity’s homeworld, or rule it out.
What is confirmed about Borderlands’ setting?
Pandora is the planet at the center of much of the series, but it is not the only world in the setting. Official PlayStation Blog material describing Borderlands 4 says Pandora’s moon, Elpis, arrives above the previously hidden planet Kairos. That establishes a setting extending beyond Pandora; it does not answer whether Earth is part of it.
A fan-maintained overview likewise describes the setting as containing “countless planets and moons” and names Aquator as one example. That is secondary-source orientation, not an official statement about Earth’s status. PlayStation Blog’s Borderlands 4 hands-on report
2K identifies Borderlands 4 as the newest game in the franchise, developed by Gearbox Software and released on September 12, 2025. Its official announcement does not establish Earth as a location or as humanity’s homeworld. 2K’s Borderlands 4 release-date announcement

- Bazillions of guns: rocket-launching shotguns, enemy-torching revolvers, smgs that Fire Lightning rounds, and tons more.
- Radical art style: traditional rendering combined with hand-drawn textures give Borderlands its iconic style.
- Intense vehicular combat: behind the wheel, engage in frenetic vehicle-to-vehicle combat.
- Co-op frenzy: online or together on the couch, tear through enemies as a Crew of up to 4.
- With improved character models, weapons, textures, and more, Borderlands shines on a 4K display.
Does Borderlands identify Pandora as Earth?
No such equation is established in the sources located. Pandora is described as a planet in its own right; neither the official material cited here nor the fan-maintained overview says it is Earth under another name. Treating the two as interchangeable would go beyond the evidence.
Do Earth-like references prove Earth exists?
No. Familiar idioms, cultural references, or language that sounds Earth-like can invite speculation, but they do not by themselves establish that Earth exists in the fictional universe. Fan discussions raise the question and propose interpretations, but discussion is not canon evidence. Fan discussion asking whether Earth exists in the Borderlands universe

The most accurate answer is that Earth’s existence is unconfirmed in the available Borderlands canon material. The franchise depicts multiple planets beyond Pandora, but no source cited here explicitly confirms Earth, names it humanity’s origin, or says it does not exist.
