Yes. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE includes FF7R EPISODE INTERmission, the Yuffie Kisaragi side story. You do not need to buy Intermission as a separate add-on for this Switch 2 product.
What the Switch 2 release includes
Nintendo’s official UK product listing identifies the Switch 2 release as FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE and lists two substantial pieces of content in the product:

| Content | What it is |
|---|---|
| FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE | The main remake campaign led by Cloud Strife. |
| FF7R EPISODE INTERmission | A side story featuring Yuffie Kisaragi that runs in parallel with Cloud’s journey. |
The listing’s wording matters because it identifies Intermission as part of the game’s contents rather than as a separate purchase option. Nintendo Japan’s announcement dated January 22, 2026, confirms the same arrangement: the Switch 2 release contains both the Cloud-led remake and the Yuffie-led episode.
In practical terms, a buyer choosing the Switch 2 version of INTERGRADE receives the main game and Intermission together. The official product information does not describe Intermission as a timed trial, an online entitlement, or an episode that must be purchased after starting the main game.

What Intermission is—and what it is not
A Yuffie-focused side story
FF7R EPISODE INTERmission is the episode featuring Yuffie Kisaragi. Nintendo describes it as a side story that offers a different perspective while running parallel to Cloud’s journey. Its focus is therefore distinct from the central remake campaign, even though it belongs to the same Final Fantasy VII Remake project.
Not a replacement for the main campaign
Intermission does not replace the full remake. The Switch 2 product contains the Cloud-led game as well as the Yuffie episode, so the package is not a Yuffie-only edition. If you are looking for the primary remake story, that campaign is included alongside Intermission.
Not the same thing as an edition bonus
The episode should not be confused with physical or promotional extras. Square Enix’s Switch 2 store listing distinguishes a Day One Edition from a Standard Edition because the Day One version has a limited in-box bonus. The store states that this bonus is not included with Standard. That distinction concerns the bonus item, not whether the Intermission episode belongs to the game.

Standard and Day One listings: how to read the difference
The available official listings establish the following distinction:
| Listing | Main remake | Intermission | Additional bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | Included in the Switch 2 product | Included in the Switch 2 product listing | Square Enix says the limited Day One in-box bonus is not included |
| Day One Edition | Included in the Switch 2 product | Included in the Switch 2 product listing | Includes the limited in-box bonus described by Square Enix, while supplies last or according to the seller’s terms |
The sources do not establish a current price, inventory level, or retailer availability for either listing. A Day One label should therefore be treated as an edition-and-bonus description, not as evidence that it contains a different story package. If a shop page presents the bonus more prominently than the software contents, look for the separate line that identifies the included game and episode.
Release date and regional details
Nintendo’s UK product page gives January 22, 2026, as the release date for the Switch 2 version. Nintendo Japan’s announcement is also dated January 22, 2026, and confirms the two-story package. Those dates establish the launch information shown by those regional Nintendo sources; a different country can display another date because local release schedules, store publication, or distribution arrangements may vary.

For a purchase in another region, use the local Nintendo eShop or the regional retailer’s page to confirm the date, language information, physical-versus-digital format, and edition name. The inclusion of Intermission is documented for the Switch 2 product, but regional pages can use different wording and may not show the same Day One inventory.
Is Intermission included on both physical and digital copies?
The official material confirms inclusion in the Nintendo Switch 2 product listing, but the cited pages do not provide a complete, region-by-region catalog of physical and digital SKUs. When choosing a format, verify the individual listing rather than assuming that every seller uses identical packaging.
For a digital listing, check the product description attached to the exact Switch 2 version and look for FF7R EPISODE INTERmission in the contents. For a physical listing, inspect the box description, product code, and edition name. A retailer’s abbreviated title may omit the episode even when the complete product description includes it, so the contents section is the more useful check.

How to verify a listing before you buy
- Confirm the platform. The listing should identify Nintendo Switch 2, not the original Nintendo Switch or another console version.
- Confirm the product name. Look for FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE, including the INTERGRADE designation.
- Read the contents section. It should name FF7R EPISODE INTERmission or describe the episode featuring Yuffie Kisaragi.
- Separate software from bonuses. If the page mentions a Day One in-box item, treat that as an extra and check whether the seller identifies the edition as Standard or Day One.
- Check your region. Confirm the local store page, release information, and format because Nintendo’s UK, Japan, and Canada pages can describe different regional availability.
- Save the product page or receipt. Keeping the exact listing details is useful if a retailer ships the wrong edition or if the package description is abbreviated.
Does the Canadian demo include Intermission?
Nintendo Canada announced a free demo containing the first chapter and said that save data can carry over to the full game. That announcement is regional store information, so it should not be treated as a universal statement about every country’s demo. It also describes the demo as a first-chapter trial; it does not say that the demo is the complete Intermission episode.
If the demo is offered in your local Nintendo store, read its current description for the precise contents and save-transfer terms. A save-data transfer feature can let progress from the demo continue in the full game, but the cited announcement does not establish that it unlocks a separate Intermission purchase or changes which episodes are included in the full Switch 2 product.

Do you need to buy Intermission separately?
No. For the Nintendo Switch 2 version of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE, Nintendo’s product contents list already includes the Yuffie episode. A separate Intermission purchase is therefore unnecessary when you are buying that Switch 2 product.

Be careful with search results or older platform listings. Other versions of the remake may use different packaging, upgrade paths, or downloadable-content descriptions. The answer here applies specifically to the Nintendo Switch 2 product identified as FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE, not to every version of Final Fantasy VII Remake sold on every platform.
Common points of confusion
“Intergrade” versus “Intermission”
INTERGRADE is the name of the Switch 2 product in the official listing. INTERmission is the Yuffie episode included within that product. They are related names, but they refer to the overall release and the side story respectively.
Day One bonus versus episode content
The Day One in-box item is an edition bonus described by Square Enix. It is not the episode itself. Standard Edition’s lack of that limited bonus does not mean Standard lacks Intermission according to the Nintendo Switch 2 contents listing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesDemo chapter versus full release
The Canadian announcement describes a demo containing the first chapter and possible save-data carryover. That limited demo description should not be used to infer that the full game lacks the Yuffie episode, which Nintendo lists as part of the complete Switch 2 product.
What is confirmed—and what is not
- Confirmed: Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing includes the main remake and FF7R EPISODE INTERmission.
- Confirmed: Intermission is the Yuffie Kisaragi side story running parallel to Cloud’s journey.
- Confirmed: Nintendo UK lists January 22, 2026, as the release date, and Nintendo Japan’s announcement carries the same date.
- Confirmed: Square Enix distinguishes a Day One in-box bonus from the Standard Edition and says Standard does not include that limited bonus.
- Confirmed for Canada’s announcement: A first-chapter demo can carry save data into the full game, subject to local availability and current store terms.
- Not established by these listings: Current price, stock, retailer inventory, affiliate eligibility, or identical physical and digital packaging in every region.
For the question that matters when choosing the Switch 2 game, the contents listing is decisive: Intermission is part of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE on Nintendo Switch 2.
