Ghost of Yōtei has an online co-op mode called Ghost of Yōtei Legends, released March 10, 2026 (March 11 in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand). It is a free update for owners of the PS5 game, but online play requires an internet connection, a PlayStation account, and a separately paid PlayStation Plus subscription.
What is Ghost of Yōtei Legends?
Legends is a cooperative online mode separate from the single-player campaign; the announcement does not describe the campaign itself as multiplayer. It gives the Yōtei Six a supernatural retelling, with players teaming up against monstrous versions of Atsu’s foes. Sucker Punch described it as “our online co-op multiplayer mode where you’ll team up with friends to challenge monstrous, supernatural versions of the Yōtei Six.” PlayStation’s announcement and its March 9 guide explain the mode and its premise.

How many players can play each Legends activity?
The party size depends on the activity. The August 2026 Complete Edition announcement describes Legends as supporting up to four players overall; that does not mean every activity uses a four-player party.

The activity counts and progression details come from Sucker Punch’s February 2026 launch announcement. It said the Raid was planned for a later update; the August 2026 Complete Edition announcement later listed it among the mode’s features. The cited announcements do not establish the Raid’s exact release date.

What classes are available?
Legends has four classes: Samurai, Archer, Mercenary, and Shinobi. Each can use a katana and a ranged weapon, and each has a distinct weapon specialty:
- Samurai: ōdachi
- Archer: yari
- Mercenary: dual katana
- Shinobi: kusarigama
These class details were specified in Sucker Punch’s launch announcement.

When did Ghost of Yōtei multiplayer come out?
Ghost of Yōtei Legends launched March 10, 2026, through patch 1.5. Some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, received it March 11. The mode is a free update for owners of Ghost of Yōtei. Sony’s later announcement scheduled the Complete Edition and patch 2.0 for October 1, 2026 globally, and October 2 in some territories; that is a separate release date, not the Legends launch date.

- A copy of Ghost of Yōtei for PS5. Legends is free for game owners; the Complete Edition is another way to get the game.
- An internet connection and a PlayStation account.
- A separately paid PlayStation Plus subscription for online multiplayer.
Those access requirements are stated in the Legends launch announcement and Complete Edition announcement. Subscription pricing is not included here because it varies by country and may change.
