Genshin Impact Version 5.0 Phase I featured Mualani’s debut and Kaedehara Kazuha’s rerun on two concurrent Character Event Wishes. Both banners boosted Kachina, Xinyan, and Bennett. The concurrent weapon banner featured Surf’s Up and Freedom-Sworn. These historical wishes ran after the August 28, 2024 update and ended September 17, 2024 at 17:59.
Which characters were on the 5.0 Phase I banners?
The Phase I notice listed two concurrent Character Event Wishes: “Sharktacular Surfari” for Mualani and “Leaves in the Wind” for Kaedehara Kazuha. HoYoverse’s PlayStation.Blog overview also described Mualani and Kachina’s debuts alongside Kazuha’s rerun.

Both character wishes shared the same boosted four-star characters:
- Kachina (“Mottled Gold Yet Unsmelted”) — Geo
- Xinyan (“Blazing Riff”) — Pyro
- Bennett (“Trial by Fire”) — Pyro
The Phase I notice said Kachina would enter the standard wish, Wanderlust Invocation, in the following version. It also said the event-exclusive five-star characters would not be available there; that statement describes the pool as announced at the time, not every later wish pool. Which weapons were featured?
The concurrent Epitome Invocation featured two five-star weapons and five boosted four-stars.

The notice said Epitomized Path could be used to chart toward either featured five-star weapon. Starting with this phase, its maximum Fate Points was reduced from two to one.

When did the banners run?
Version 5.0 went live on August 28, 2024, according to HoYoverse Studio Technical Director Zhenzhong Yi’s PlayStation.Blog overview. The Phase I notice said the wishes began after the update and ended September 17, 2024 at 17:59. The notice does not establish a regional start hour or the timezone for that end time, so no local-time conversion is implied here.

HoYoverse introduced Capturing Radiance for Character Event Wish and Character Event Wish-2 in this phase. The notice described it as a possible outcome when a player was not guaranteed the promotional character and won a five-star character: the mechanic could make that five-star the promotional character. In an August 16, 2024 Q&A, HoYoverse stated a 55.000% consolidated probability of receiving the promotional character when winning a five-star on an applicable event wish, including the possibility of Capturing Radiance. The Phase I notice also said the guarantee count was shared between Character Event Wish and Character Event Wish-2 and accumulated across the two. It remained independent of other wish types.

What the lineup tells you—and what it does not
The announcements establish which characters and weapons were featured, not which banner was better for a particular account. A choice between Mualani and Kazuha depended on which character the player wanted and needed; weighing the weapon wish also meant considering both featured five-stars and the account’s willingness to receive either. The published lineup alone does not support a universal pull-value ranking.
