In official Developer Briefing #191, the developer said, “When the original conversion of Hell Let Loose to console was done, it was set up with the intention of supporting cross-play between console platforms only.” The briefing also explains that PC and console servers are separate and use different providers. The code for gameplay is separate from the code handling platform services, invites, and friend requests.

Does Hell Let Loose: Vietnam have crossplay?
Yes. The official FAQ describes Hell Let Loose: Vietnam as supporting full crossplay across PC and console, including across storefronts. That statement applies to Vietnam, not the original Hell Let Loose; they are separate games. Check that you and your friends are discussing the same title before choosing a platform.

The official game page describes the original Hell Let Loose as a tactical, teamwork-focused first-person shooter with 50-versus-50 battles. If playing with a mixed PC-and-console group is essential, that original game does not meet the requirement; the official FAQ’s crossplay statement for Vietnam is the relevant one to check instead.
