No. In Red Dead Redemption 2, John does not inherit all of Arthur’s money, valuables, or supplies. Some equipment and progress carry over, but ordinary valuables such as gold bars and jewelry are reported lost. Unique valuables can behave differently, and Arthur’s cash can reportedly be recovered through the Aberdeen Pig Farm if you prepare before the transition.
What transfers from Arthur to John?
The transfer is category-specific rather than a complete handoff. IGN’s post-game guide, updated June 20, 2024, lists weapons, outfits, kit items, trinkets, talismans, valuables, and documents among the categories that carry over. It says cash, horses, provisions, tonics, ingredients, and materials are lost. OutlawDB’s mission reference adds that some retained equipment is not available immediately.

What counts as a “valuable”?
The answer depends on whether you mean money, ordinary loot, or a specific unique item. Generic valuables such as gold bars and jewelry are reported not to pass to John, even though guides list some valuables among retained categories. That broad label should not be read as a promise that all loot transfers: unique valuables are generally reported to remain, but exceptions exist.
Community item lists are incomplete and include revised or conflicting player reports. Treat individual special-item claims cautiously rather than assuming that every item in Arthur’s satchel follows the same rule.

Can John get Arthur’s money?
Arthur’s carried cash does not normally become John’s balance. The epilogue later provides John with money as part of the story, but that is distinct from inheriting Arthur’s money.
Reported Aberdeen Pig Farm workaround
OutlawDB describes a player workaround: have Arthur leave the money unrecovered after the Aberdeen Pig Farm robbery, then return as John later to retrieve the stash. This is guide-reported gameplay advice, not an official Rockstar instruction. Its timing matters: if you are approaching the final Chapter 6 missions and want to try it, make the decision before advancing through the transition.

What to do before the transition
- Want to preserve Arthur’s cash? Consider the Aberdeen Pig Farm workaround before moving on; it is separate from the money John receives in the story.
- Carrying surplus generic valuables? OutlawDB recommends selling surplus before the transition because generic valuables such as gold bars and jewelry are reported lost. Unique quest valuables may behave differently.
- Expecting retained weapons or clothing immediately? OutlawDB says these become available after the sixth Epilogue I mission, so a temporary absence does not necessarily mean they failed to carry over.
- Relying on an ordinary supply or a horse? Plan around losing provisions, tonics, ingredients, materials, horses, and horse cargo.
