What happens to Leon in Resident Evil Requiem?
Leon Kennedy survives the ending identified as canon in a post-release report by PC Gamer, which quoted director Koshi Nakanishi. Nakanishi said the final scene was meant to convey that Leon now has “a place to go home to.”
That answers the fate question for the canon ending: Leon is alive. The report says the game has two endings and identifies the more positive one as canon; it does not establish that every possible ending has the same outcome.
What does Leon’s ending leave unanswered?
Nakanishi did not identify the person associated with Leon’s ring or explain exactly what it signifies. He said, “The answer will become clear some day, but not just yet,” and invited players to imagine the peaceful moments Leon spends at home. The report therefore supports his survival and a home to return to, but not a claim that he is married to any particular character.

Why is Leon back in Raccoon City?
Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth main installment in Capcom’s series, released February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, according to Capcom’s announcement. Director Koshi Nakanishi described Leon’s return to Raccoon City as a return to the place where his bioterror nightmare began, and said exploring Leon’s character development is central to the game, in a PlayStation.Blog interview.
Producer Masato Kumazawa has also said “Requiem” carries several meanings: Grace Ashcroft’s grief for her mother and the people caught up in the Raccoon City incident are part of its layers. He said completing the game reveals more of them in the same PlayStation.Blog interview.
