Not according to the official platform descriptions reviewed: No Man’s Sky is documented at up to 60 FPS on current consoles, and the cited announcements do not confirm a 120 FPS mode. On PC, frame rate depends on hardware and settings; Hello Games has not promised 120 FPS or published a configuration that guarantees it.
Officially stated frame rates by platform
Hello Games’ 2020 Next Generation Update lists these console targets:

These are developer-published mode descriptions, not independent benchmark results or a guarantee that the game holds a perfectly steady frame rate in every scene. The PS5 Pro statement describes the modes in that announcement; it should not be read as proof that no later patch could add another option.
What about 120 FPS on PC?
PC performance varies with the system and graphics settings. Hello Games’ Voyagers Update, published August 27, 2025, identifies DLSS 4 and XeSS 2 as performance-enhancing technologies, but does not promise 120 FPS or name a tested PC configuration that guarantees it. The game’s minimum-specifications support page is not a 120 FPS performance guide.

That means a sufficiently powerful PC may be capable of a high frame rate, but the official information cited here does not establish a universal 120 FPS result, a guaranteed setup, or a supported 120 FPS mode. Results can vary by hardware, resolution, settings, and what is happening in the game.
Does a 120 Hz screen mean the game runs at 120 FPS?
No. FPS is how many frames the game renders per second; Hz is how often a display can refresh. A 120 Hz television or monitor can refresh up to 120 times per second, but that capability does not make a game render 120 frames per second. The documented console modes above remain the relevant evidence for No Man’s Sky’s stated console performance.

How current are these mode descriptions?
No Man’s Sky continues to receive updates across PC and consoles. Hello Games’ release log lists platform updates, so a newly added mode could change what is available. The official descriptions cited here do not confirm 120 FPS; check the current release notes and in-game graphics options for your platform if you need to verify a later change.
