Yes. Rainbow Six Siege uses multiple anti-cheat and security measures, but they target different problems and platforms. Ubisoft documents MouseTrap for console input spoofing, R6 ShieldGuard protections and live updates, and extra PC security requirements for access to Legend Division in Ranked. Those measures do not guarantee that every cheat will be detected, and some features Ubisoft announced in August 2026 are not confirmed as shipped by the later official sources cited here.
Which anti-cheat systems does Siege use?
| Measure | Platform and scope | What it targets or does | Status in Ubisoft sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| MouseTrap | Console | Detects devices that make mouse-and-keyboard input appear to come from a controller. | Described in Ubisoft’s current Help article; penalties there differ from the earlier 2023 technical explanation. Ubisoft Help |
| R6 ShieldGuard hardening and live updates | Siege security protections, including PC | Hardens game code and can deliver new game executables during a season to strengthen security and disrupt active cheats. | Code hardening was described in May 2025; live ShieldGuard updates are marked released on Ubisoft’s September 23, 2026 roadmap. Ubisoft roadmap |
| ShieldGuard Secure Platform requirements | PC Ranked, Legend Division access | Requires TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and Memory Integrity for access to that division. | Listed by Ubisoft Support; it is not stated as a requirement for all Siege play. Ubisoft Support |
| Recoil-macro detection, retrospective match analysis, shared kernel-level anti-cheat | PC and, for some work, consoles or other Ubisoft games | Ubisoft described detection of recoil-macro programs and scripts, analysis of past matches, and development of shared anti-cheat technology. | Announced or in development in August 2026; the later official sources cited here do not confirm the rollout status of each feature. Ubisoft Community Checkpoint |
The systems are not interchangeable: MouseTrap focuses on controller-input spoofing on console, while ShieldGuard and PC security requirements address game security and access to a specific Ranked division.

What does MouseTrap do on console?
MouseTrap is designed to identify devices that let a player use mouse and keyboard while the console game registers the input as a controller. Ubisoft’s June 3, 2023 explanation describes escalating input latency when detected spoofing continues across games; latency gradually reduces when the player returns to a controller. Ubisoft also said it considered accessibility needs and provided a way for disabled players to report an unfair penalty. Ubisoft’s 2023 MouseTrap update
Ubisoft’s current Help article gives a different, newer penalty description: multiple in-game warnings, followed by a one-year ban for further use. It says MouseTrap bans cannot be lifted. These are descriptions published at different times, so the older latency explanation should not be treated as a complete statement of the current penalty policy. Ubisoft Help: MouseTrap

Does Siege require Secure Boot or TPM on PC?
Only for the stated access scope: Ubisoft lists TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and Memory Integrity as requirements for the R6 ShieldGuard Secure Platform when accessing Legend Division in PC Ranked. Ubisoft describes it as an extra security layer for that division. The listing does not say that these settings are mandatory for every PC player, every Ranked division, or all game modes. What ShieldGuard protections are confirmed?
In May 2025, Ubisoft said it had introduced technology to harden Siege’s game code and that security updates would accompany patches. The same update acknowledged that PC cheater reports rose after the Y10S1.1 update, a reminder that introducing anti-cheat changes does not mean reports will always fall. Ubisoft’s May 2025 update

On August 7, 2026, Ubisoft said a cautious PC model for detecting recoil-macro programs and scripts was intended to go live later that month. Ubisoft said it would issue bans only after several confirmed instances, while console development was ongoing. The same announcement described retrospective analysis of past matches as work in progress and a shared kernel-level anti-cheat as being developed across Ubisoft games, with Siege among the first games intended to incorporate it in Season 3. What do Ubisoft’s cheating figures mean?
- 531,369 banned accounts: Ubisoft’s Player Protection hub gives this cumulative total for August 2020 through April 2025. It is not a current total through October 2026. Ubisoft Player Protection
- 1.8% to 2.5% of matches: In August 2025, Ubisoft said the share of matches containing a player who received at least four cheater reports in that single game rose from an average of 1.8% to 2.5% after Siege X launched. This is a match-level reporting threshold, not the percentage of players who cheat. Ubisoft’s August 2025 update
- Approximately 20% fewer console cheater reports: In May 2025, Ubisoft reported this drop after addressing an exploit that let spoofers bypass detection. Ubisoft also said reports remained above pre-crossplay numbers. This is a change in reports, not a measured count of all cheating. Ubisoft’s May 2025 update
