Yes. Restream’s Upload & Stream workflow can schedule an uploaded prerecorded video to YouTube and repeat that single video without OBS. Restream says you can set up to 10 loops, with a maximum 40-hour looping event; looping is a paid feature available on its Marathon and Media add-on plans. YouTube must be connected, and livestreaming must be enabled for your channel.
How Restream’s uploaded-video workflow works
You upload or select a prerecorded video, create an event, choose YouTube as a destination, and schedule the start time. You can set a loop count for a single video. Restream says the repetitions run as one event, which then airs automatically at the scheduled time. OBS is not needed for this workflow.
Restream’s Upload & Stream feature supports files from a desktop or mobile device and imports from Descript, Google Drive, or Dropbox. You can use one video or create a playlist; the looping control described here is for a single video.
Schedule and loop a video on YouTube
- Enable YouTube live streaming. Confirm livestreaming is enabled for the channel you want to use. Restream says first-time activation requires phone verification and a 24-hour wait.
- Open the prerecorded event flow. From the Restream home screen, choose Pre-recorded livestream, then Video.
- Select or upload the video. Choose a file from Uploads or Recordings, or upload a new one. Check it against the file requirements below before proceeding.
- Enter event details and schedule the start. Set the event information and the date and time it should air.
- Set the loop count if needed. Use the optional loop setting for the single video. Restream’s documented maximum is 10 repetitions, and the looping stream can run for up to 40 hours.
- Select YouTube as a destination. Toggle on the connected YouTube channel, then create the event.
- Check the event listing and channel schedule. Make sure the intended video, destination, and start time are correct. Restream says no further action is needed at airtime: the event airs automatically.
Prepare a compatible video file
Restream lists these mandatory requirements for prerecorded videos. Its published recommendations are separate from its mandatory parameters.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Setting | Restream’s guidance |
|---|---|
| Container | MP4, MOV, M4V, or MKV |
| Video encoding | H.264 |
| Audio encoding | AAC |
| Keyframe interval | 2 |
| Resolution | Full HD 1080p (1920×1080) recommended; 4K may work where the destination supports it |
| Frame rate | 30 or 60 FPS recommended |
| Rate control | CBR recommended |
Restream recommends adding 15–20 seconds at the beginning and end of the video so destination processing does not cut off important content. Treat that as a buffer, not a guarantee against processing delays.
Looping one video versus repeating a playlist
Restream’s loop option applies to a single video. Its help article says playlists do not currently support looping. If you need a sequence to repeat, Restream suggests duplicating the playlist entries; it allows up to 40 videos in a playlist. That workaround repeats the sequence by listing the clips again rather than looping the playlist itself.

Plans and practical limits
- Restream says recorded-video streaming is available to all users, subject to plan-dependent storage and file limits.
- Looping is a paid feature. Restream’s scheduling documentation names the Marathon and Media add-on plans as eligible; check Restream’s current plan details before choosing a plan because feature and price information can change.
- Restream’s documented looping limit is 10 repetitions and a maximum 40-hour looping stream. The repeated footage is treated as one event.
- Creating an advance event post for YouTube is supported, but the channel must have live streaming enabled.
Restream versus OBS for this job
If your goal is to schedule a prerecorded video and have it air unattended, Restream’s documented upload workflow does not require OBS. The relevant decision is whether its paid looping option fits your needs and plan. The supplied official documentation does not establish a broader performance comparison between Restream and OBS, so it would be misleading to claim one is inherently more reliable or higher quality.
If you specifically want to operate a local encoder, that is a different workflow from Restream’s scheduled upload feature. This article’s steps cover the documented Restream method rather than prescribing OBS settings that are not needed for it.
